Cant find much info on the exhaust. It sounds nice but was wondering if it is possible to remove the baffles too. Its a Remus one. All i could find were 2 bolt things on the inside side of the exhaust, but they arent allen head bolts, they are just circular...

Oh just found some info of them:

https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.milwaukee-vtwin.de%2Fthread32515-biete-remus-slip-on-endschalldaempfer-eg-genehmigung-r7-e4-0061.htm

These are slip on...well i checked my plugs and the are a nice tanned colour, so its running right regardless.
Does this suggest my carbs have different sized jets in them? Thanks

They're rivetted in. Don't take them out, they're too large in diameter to run open pipes. It would run like a pig, even jetted up.

What I did was drill several holes using a 400mm long, 10mm diameter drill bit through the back plate and right through any subsequent baffling.

It allowed a portion of gas and noise to bypass the baffles whilst still maintaining a modicum of back pressure.

If you want open pipes, you'll have to get some straight drag pipes about 40mm diameter.

Your bike won't have been jetted up already, that system is designed as a stock replacement, despite the visual differences from standard.

Ive only seen Viragos with proper pipes built for them, like highway hawk or jardine. Take it i couldnt use 2 slash cut generic slip ons could i? Do you think my carbs have been rejetted, or maybe the Remus was made for the virago so its running standard jets

It won't sound good. I can guarantee it.

The budget slashcuts won't really do your bike any favours; they'll eliminate almost all of the backpressure, and won't sound great. More to the point, if they're the proper el cheap-o-rama ones that I'm thinking of, then they'll look like crap in about fifteen minutes, anyway. I fitted one of the bean-can ones to my 125, and there was about 5mm of baffle material around the outer skin of the thing, and that's it. It did nothing to limit noise, and was clearly not designed to actually do anything, as such.
