Hi,

IN the last 6 months I have been getting really bad noises, creeks, clunks etc coming from somewhere around the spindle connecting to the crankshaft. Every time I put pressure down on the left hand pedal, either the crank arm where it connects to the spindle or the spindle creeks, clunks real loud and the crank arm works itself loose and falls off.

Can anyone help explain what is wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks

The problem is that you have pedals. Unless you're riding a moped with pedals you're on the wrong forum.

As above, this is a motorcycle forum.

Try www.bikeforums.com and lurk more.

Even then, that was a monumentally shit first post so can I recommend that should you post this question there, you include details of the make and model of the bicycle, make and model of the crank/chainset (if it's a geared chainset) and wether it has a cotter-pin, square taper or octalink bottom bracket.

On initial reading it sounds like you're missing the bolt or cotter pin that holds the crank onto the bottom bracket spindle. With this in place, it should be impossable for the crank to actually fall off.

Again with the 'this is a motorcycle forum', but it would seem like your crank bolt is missing, and you may need a new bottom bracket anyway, if it's making a lot of noise.
