Put on my new clutch plates and springs and found that the clutch is still not disengaging! uploading a video now of what it is was like before I put on plates and springs again, should be up in the next 30 mins.

everything seems to working so I'm not sure why it's not working? I did hear something about a ball bearing between the two rods though. is that on the rs 50 am6 engine? if so i don't have one and that's the problem I guess

Many thanks

Nathan

putting new clutch plates on isn't going to solve it, you did realise that? Wink

Sounds like the clutch shaft is snapped if its not pushing out the other end. It can't be properly tested unless the whole engine is put back together and checked properly. I think the engine covers serve a purpose with the clutch but can't see well in your video

yeah it doesn't show it too well, the shaft thing pushes on the other end but only moves a few mm's
And yeah I did realise it wouldn't fix it but hoped the problem would have fixed itself seeing as when I put it all together nothing seemed wrong, I did test with it all together just after I took the video this evening and it wasn't working. I could move the clutch arm and hear the end of that rod thing I showed in the video hitting something where the clutch plates are but it didn't disengage them.

Hmmm. on my KE125 engine, there is a pushrod that goes through the engine and pushes against that other rod with the plate (which pushes the end clutch plate out) thats shown in the video. Between the pushrod and that rod/disc thingo, there was a little 7/32 ball bearing that wasnt there before, so i bought one which increased the distance that end disc moved when disengaging. have a look at your pushrod (if there is any). if it has an end where it is curved inwards to fit a little bearing ball, then ball is what's probably missing.
best of luck Wink

I bought a 5mm ball bearing and thought it would solve the problem, first test today and no luck at all. I'm not sure a bigger ball bearing would fit either.

I tested it by putting it in first gear and pulling the clutch all the way in, it would not disengage. could that be because it is was not running or because I still haven't solved the problem?

Thanks

Nathan

5mm is probably too small. The ball bearings used tend to have a diameter equal to the pushrod.

I tried 6mm and it wouldn't fit. could . of a mm make a big enough difference?

Is there a screw with a locknut in the middle of the pressure plate?

There should be. You slacken off the cable, then loosen the locknut in the clutch centre and wind the adjuster in until you feel resistance then wind it out half a turn or so and lock it off. After that adjust the free-play in the cable and you can pull the clutch and watch the plates move apart.

Laughing Thanks lads, will try adjusting it tomorrow, last time I tried the nut wouldn't budge so I'll try taking it off and putting in a vice to get a better grip.
