Due to their awkward shape and on mine the huge shaft drive being in the way, it makes lifting the bike harder.
Im just after something which will lift the rear wheel and is able to lift the front wheel to (not at the same time) for any future work i may need to do on it.
I intend to keep the bike for a long time so may as well get kitted up with tools and stuff i might need.
Was wondering if a simple device like this would work:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Tools-MPS2-Two-Arm-Centre-Lift-Stand-Motorcycle-Motorbike-Cruiser-Style-/360447857846?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item53ec5dd4b6

Or would it be pretty crap?

Use a plank of wood and a pole :-

https://www.nightrider.com/biketech/bikelift.htm

Don't even have to attach a pole, just use a bracket :-

I got this one. stand

Very cheap price but really well made and it only took a couple of days for delivery from Germany.

What about those flat ATV/Harley lifts? You can get the whole bike off the floor with them. I bought mine in Macros a few years back, just modified it to hold my 'busa up in the air with the suspension pulled off.

It might be possible to run the leather handlebar tassels up through a pulley if you have rafters or something in your garage to winch from Thinking

That's what I've got. Bought it off a mate for 60 quid.

If you know any men, ask them to shove a block of wood under one swing arm and a jack under t'other.

Someone post a pic please. Can't get to eBay in work Thumbs Down

I was reading about the "Americana 2 bike lift" on m&p, it's about £100, however, I can't see how it works around the exhaust.

On my Virago, the front exhaust runs down and under the side of the engine.

This.

I've got one of those too, worked perfectly fine when I had to get the engine out of the VS800.

However, I also agree with the block-of-wood theory, I generally use that if I want to get a front or back wheel off the floor. Only problem with it is that it takes 2 of us.

I'm curious as to what you think you may need to do to the bike that needs it to be off the ground?

He needs to check the tassels are the same length and hang the same way.

That is the main priority.
But apart from that, just maintenance like checking the shaft gears or making sure the brakes arent binding.
My local tyre fitter only has one of those small jack things which probably wont work with a cruiser, so i might just buy one so he can use it too when changing tyres.

Shocked Why on earth would you want to do that? Confused

Both my cruisers are shaft-drive, and we've got/had other shafties over the years (my 400 eliminator, the vmax, couple of VT500s and a honda magna off the top of my head) and my fella who is a pretty competent mechanic has never felt the need to check a shaft gear on any of them!

I think you're over-thinking the whole maintenance issue for your bike to be honest.

Your mechanic needs re-training.

The shaft drive gets neglected as " zero-maintenance", so it's good practise when buying a used shaftie to change the shaft oil and re-pack the final splines with moly grease.

No, you need to read what I said.

Changing the shaft oil is a 5-minute job that doesn't require the bike to be off the ground. Checking the shaft gears? When did you last check yours?

I have this lift for my supermoto.
It's a solid bit of kit and works well - got mine on ebay for £70 delivered.

If you need any measurements from it let me know.

I have the same one as r1_lad, saves any faffing about and lifts the bike up a decent height and securely.
