Covering your PM as well: you'll have a lot more fun on a YBR/CG/EN or whatever you can afford to buy, insure and ride right now than on a YZF R125 that will do nothing except depreciate, fall over and/or get nicked while you scrimp up enough to get it on the road.
A 125 is a cheap commuter or a route to your license, it's not an aspirational bike that you should stretch to afford. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

You're kidding me!
We've gone around teh Gilera ring a few times; he makes ludicrouse comment about liking 125's becous ethey only get nicked by 'kids' then goes and picks one that is targeted specifically by 'Pros' for the breaking market, and wants to know where to keep it without insurance!?!?!?
SHELDON!
You have 29 weeks to get a licence worth having with a 125, and you seem absolutely DETURMINED to go out of your fucking way to FIND problems!
WHY?!?
WHY are you looking at 'silly' bikes that you cant afford?
And MAKING hassle for yourself to make life even harder and waste EVEN more of the preciouse little time you have to get a licence?!?!?!
Meanwhile, in previouse post you said you had DONE your CBT.... now you need next months pay-packet to pay for it?!?!
What is going on? Something dont add up?!?!
Maybe its the gap in our respective realities.....
BUT?!?!?!?
Actually, sod it... whats the point in typing..... you dont take heed of anything you are told... ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Second thoughts...
Dont worry about insurance... you'll be buying third-party only in the end anyway, becouse you wont be able to afford much more, and even if you did, chances are it would have such wopping XS as to make it worth only TPO.... so its no different to leaving it out-side in full view when you have insurance.
125's only get nicked by 'kids'... but it LOOKs like a 'big-bike' so they will leave it alone, wont they?
And it has an ignition lock and steering lock, that should do the trick!
Just park it outside, IT'LL BE FINE ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

No... just stunned.... like I have been hit over the head with a rock
Chap lives in Sarf-Landan.... without off-street parking, cant afford insurance, but prioritises buying THE most ridiculous, over-priced, magpie-magnet, he can NOT afford, above, anything else!
What for? Becouse it LOOKS like his idea of what a bike should, and bollox to any-one that suggest its a 'silly' idea.
Its true what they say; make something idiot-proof, they build a better idiot to test it! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

We have all been guilty of not listening to the more experienced at one time or another just means this chap is going to learn things as most of us did, the hard way! Good luck with that man! |

I dunno about you guys, but i trashed my first 2 small (125cc) bikes. the first one was dropped more times than i'd care to admit and ended up going down the road sidewaysa couple times, and the 2nd, well, thats in bits on my back yard with a ruined swingarm and half an engine.
Wish people would just understand that if its your first bike you will trash it or bin it or just outright kill it due to inexperience, every rider i've known has abused their first (or first couple) of bikes so there's really no sense in paying more than maybe £800 for one or buying new, cos you'll just ruin it |
Can vouch on the ruining ofmfirst bikes, had an rs50 which I dropped a fair few times, god I even cracked the fairings getting it into my garden, twicem
To op, take these guys advice on getting a cheap and cheerful bike to start with, I was looking at getting a pretty 125 but after many of these, including tef haha, have drilled it in that it's just not worth it. I waste my money now on a silly little bike or get my test done and get myself a nice 600.. I know what I'd rather and what I am doing |
