'Allo folks, wondering if someone a bit more clued up could help me with an issue I'm having..

Had my bike a little over a month now, a YBR Custom, loving it!

Last couple of weeks on and off I've been having an issue of it claiming to be in neutral (light on) when it's actually in first or second and it seems to be getting a bit more regular.

It is still under warranty and on Monday, assuming it's nothing I'm doing wrong, I'll take it back up to the shop and have them take a look but certainly would like to know what it could be.

I don't know if it's related but sometimes when trying to downshift at traffic lights for example, the gears won't change at all, it's like the lever is not 'hitting' anything if that makes sense?

If you cannot change gear whilst stationary, clutch lever pulled in and rock the bike back and forth with light pressure on the gear lever.

One problem I had once, not on a YBR though, was too much oil. When hot the bike would not get neutral. Resolved with oil change.

May or maybe not related to your issue.

Do you understand what a false neutral is? That is not what he is describing.

a false neutral to my understanding is when it is indicated that the bike is in nuetral in any other place than that is mechanicly possible. ie a step over in the selection of gears and or damage in the selector it self. uslay caused by either heavy and hard use or manufacturing fault.

Well done for reading wiki, now apply that to what the OP said. He has no problem with false neutrals just the neutral light.

Re the trouble changing gear at a standstill. Adjust your clutch cable correctly when the engine is at running temperature.

Before that I would try rolling the bike forward a little next time it happens. You can't go all the way up and down the box at a standstill.
