Hey, I know the topic of re-boring the Kymco stryker 125 has been bought up before, but I was wondering if anybody knew if there was a Honda/Yam/Suz engine that would be a direct swap or a slight modded swap for the standard engine?
Im not looking for massive power Im just looking for a lower milage engine to swap into my "Project".
The current engine has 26k on it and even though its still got ok compression and turns over nicely (yet I cant get it to run Sad ) I wouldnt mind putting a slightly lower more reliable engine it.
I know for a fact that Honda used "Kwang yang motors co" (or something like that) for a short time and Im assuming there may be a compatible engine about.

The bike is a 2000 Kymco Stryker 125 "Trail" (exaxtly the same as the ON/OFF road model but with a fancy Trail sticker and chunky tyres)

Any help would be greatly appreciated
And I know the bikes worth Fork all and I would be throwing money into a preverbial hole I dont need reminding Wink

if the engine has ok compression then its unlikely to the engine that is at fault. More like a carb or electrical problem.

But other than that I dont have the answer to your question but its alot of hassle swaping engines around.

Cheers man,
Ive been trying to get my head around how carbs work over the last few days and i think ive got it, just need to work out how to take it apart and put it back together and set it up correctly after doing so, New plugs in and ive not tested it for spark yet, so ill check that but because the starter motor is in need of repair, the engine doesnt turn over under its own power.

Is there a guide about to set up carbs?

if you have an engine problem give me a shout i have a spare 157 fmi engine thats done about 3k miles

i personaly wouldnt look at the carb i would bin it straight away

with a 110 jet to compensate for the airflow difference and they run better than out the factory, i wouldnt say more power but smoother running through out the rev range

i have run these carbs on several bikes and had the same results which is a vast improvement on the chinese carbs

https://www.mypurerush.co.uk/product-info.php?proID=380

when i ordered the second carb i asked them to fit it with the 110 jet for me and they did

with the first i ordered a jet kit off ebay and fiddled for many hours till it was right

it seems that both the 125 150 and 200 engine all like the 110 jet though depending on the bike the original is between 95 and 98 on all the bikes though they all use the same spec carbs

30mm seems a bit big for a 125cc do they still run ok with it? what is the standard carb size for the striker?

standard is a 26 mm chinese piece of crap..... floats melt, needle valves break and the jets block in seconds even with filters, i found these reasonable price ones never have a problem you just need to jet them correctly
