Posted: 10:37 - 18 Jun 2012 Post subject: Strange Electrical Issues (cont.) |
 |
|
Hi All,
I thought my issues had been solved, based on advise from here and VTF. Unfortunately they haven't.
Based on advice from vtf I have replaced the coils, HT leads, spark plug caps and spark plugs (twice). I also found lose earth that I've sorted. The bike has recently had a new fuel filter, air filter, oil filter and oil and these issues started after I checked and adjusted the valve clearances (I've since re-checked these twice) I've also put new gaskets in the exhaust, and checked the carbs and rubbers for leaks.
The symptoms are the same as before, the bike will idle just fine but as soon as I try to add revs if just backfires. The weird bit is, that if I use any of the electrics it will rev. eg, if I hold the starter down, it will rev fine, if I put the indicators on, it will rev in time with the lights flashing. The main light on high beam improves the revs, but doesn't solve it.
It seems as though there is too much electricity?! I followed the wiring around the bike the best I can to try and I find a broken wire somewhere, but can't see anything that looks dodgy.
I can't get the bike to a mechanics til payday, so would like to try and fix it myself.
Any ideas would be gratefully received. I hate getting the bus to work.
Thanks
