Had this thought from this thread - asked to dismount.
I wondered if anyone has had any accidents on garage forecourts and what the outcome was.
A bit back my lad did slip and his bike went over on a diesel spill at a Tesco station/express store. Brake lever broke. He went to report it and see about getting it replaced but they made it so difficult he gave up trying. When I say difficult it was a case of "no the manager you need is not in", "you need to fill in this form, no you can't take it away do it here" (IMHO not appropriate in a busy store), "we need to contact head office", etc.

That's when you call the police in. And if they say they're not interested you vaguely mention intimidation and velied threats of violence made towards you by irate staff. Muddy the waters, fudge it around. Once the police are there it all goes on record and your hand is stronger. ____________________ "There's the horizon! And leave bike on the ground, don't want to move it in case there's a spark, oh, I think I hurt my back too, etc, etc.
They'll soon start to take notice. ____________________ I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realise that what you heard is not exactly what I meant |

Hmm, slam on rear brake in a garage spill and bin bike
Claim money from the garage
Profit
It's pretty much expected to be fuel on the ground in a forecourt, i'm just careful ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |

I've had a go at a couple of garages after nearly dropping the bike. In the last one they just looked at me as if I was an alien, so I stuck some sand on the spill then chucked the bucket into the shop where the counter was. They're either completely ignorant of the effect of diesel under foot or just too bone idle to care.
The way you got treated sounds like they're used to people making claims, it's probably a well known scam.
It's not all the garages fault, who are the morons that spill it in the first place and how?? ____________________ Space Is Deep |
