2 Thundercat things..

2 issues with the Thundercat currently.

I was doing silly speeds this morning on the way in Shifty

and noticed my front wheel likes to wobble slightly at anything past 120. Like when you accelerate too fast and it wobbles a bit, but under smooth acceleration, advancing to 140 or something...

Not so much an issue as this isn't a usual thing, but I was following the road which bears right at about 130-140, open 3 lane motorway, empty as empty can be and it just felt a bit wobbly, very lightly but enough to make me query it. Pressures are spot on when cold, tyres are round and head bearings were deemed excellent on the MOT. Its more a weaving wobble if you get what I mean...

Possible steering damper needed?

Another issue.
Is roll on acceleration from 100mph in 4th meant to be fast in anyway. Put it this way, I got dicked on by an 1.8 Audi A4, 4 door saloon...he was pulling away from me from 100mph down a hill in 4th with me on full throttle, caught and overtook went into 5th and 6th and slowed down and continued my journey home.

Just thought, really? Is it that bad?! I'm used to seeing a car fly up to the side of you, opening throttle and eating them, piece of cake!

As stated its not a daily occurrence but it got me thinking today! Karma

I'll swap you for the GS? With the charging fault I have to rev the nuts off of it whilst riding so that I don't run out of battery and stall. Laughing

It's been ages since my speedo got in to triple digits. Sad

No wind.

Do that route daily, obviously not always high speed but on occasions it seems like it gets a bit loose on most roads around that speed..

Its not a more modern GSXR. It wont be anywhere near as stable as one.

Accept it for what it is.

Are the wheel bearings okay?

Or has a wheel balance weight fallen off?

You don't need a steering damper on a Cat. The steering geometry is rock stable; I've had a couple of really close calls with the front, saved by the bike's inherent stability rather than my God-like riding skills. In 10 years I have had one steering headshake, and that was accelerating hard over a badly rippled road surface. I would suspect head bearings or something else before looking at unnecessary bolt-ons. Of course, if you have jacked up the rear end or dropped the front then all bets are off.

It really should pull hard under the conditions you mention. The Cat is more a mid-ranger than a top-ender so it sometimes pays to shift before the red line as the last 1,000 rpm or so isn't always worth it. Always worth pulling out my favourite fact: the Cat has more peak torque than every R6 that has followed it (but significantly less peak power, so it shows revs are not what it feeds on).

Check the tyre and its sidewalls.

I once had a bubble on the sidewall of my car that made it shake, it eventually blew out on the motorway.

When my Sp1 caught fire on the motorway i only realised because it started to shake.

I think the heat began to heat the tyre and thus upping the pressure and making it unstable.

The whole rear of the bike was scorched and melted anyway lol.
