Someone is sure to fill you in more about the rattle...
For the oil, if you are sure there aren't any leaks, then its probably burning up the oil, and that seems like a lot of oil to burn up in a week or so. Could be bad rings, dont know what to think, but if this is the case, the rings would usually slowly ware, rather than suddenly allow nugget loads of oil to flow past.
I'd say its a good idea to take off the valve cover for a decent look. Could be a bad valve stem seal also?

Is it 4 or 2 stroke?
It could be a cam chain tensioner also.
Take a couple pics when/if you get that valve cover off. Good luck! Thumbs Up

It's an air-cooled twin. They're noisy by their very nature.

It does if you're trying to advise someone on technical matters, yes.

What colour is the smoke, and have you run a compression test on it yet? I have a compression tester that you're welcome to use, should you need it.

I wouldn't think it would matter too much if i were to mention cam chain tensioners, or rings, or valve stem seals. Common sense really Wink

You may want to read up on the fundamental differences between four stroke and two stroke engines, if you're going to start mentioning valve stem seals after claiming ignorance of the engine type.

I just assumed he would know that if i were to talk about valve stem seals, or cam chain tensioners as a problem, i would be referring to a four stroke Crying or Very sad

Don't 2 strokers have a chain tensioner, to drive an oil pump? Or do they just rely on the gearbox to circulate the oil?

2 strokes dont have cam chains, rockers or anything like that they get there oil from mixing petrol and 2 stroke oil via premix or oil pump a 4 stroke has oil in the sump and the bearings sit in that oil where as a 2 stroke does have a sump but its only for the gears and clutch someone can elaborate a bit more but im sure u get the idea

theres nothing mechanical in a 2 stroke except the piston and conrod thats why there so light.

and the oil pump on my rg is connected to the side of the engine on a gear so the faster i go the more oil flows and vise versa

Have you checked your powerband recently? They stretch over time like chains do
