You can go right around them. If no cars are oncoming, do a life saver and move to the middle of the road and go through the centre of them all, no need to move back unless a car is coming the other way or to avoid any hazards etc. That's what I was told, and what I did in my Mod 2 and was fine
Hope this helps
*Edit* Thought I'd also mention, watch your speed though, don't go zooming through them ____________________ I'm Sam; Northern, Ginger, Lover

It's actually a very good question.
My view on it is: in real life, ride around them any way you want.
On test though, it may be safer to slow down and ride over them. The examiner may moan about it afterwards, but there's probably less to go wrong - and fail on - than with manoeuvring around them.
It's a judgement call though, if the road is clear and you're well up on your mirror checks, down the middle of the road should be fine, but bear in mind that all advice is subject to the whims of the particular DSA examiner on the day - they're essentially a law unto themselves. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Problem is going over them looks messy, it's harsh and bumpy so it doesn't look like a nice smooth ride from behind - and half the battle of MOD2 is fooling the examiners subconscious that you're in full control of the bike just by making everything look smooth and effortless!! ____________________ Trev, now a biker?

When i done my mod 2 i specifically asked this as was told:
If the road is clear go through the middle, don't go kirb-side as it adds unnecessary risk. Make sure if your going around them slow down to the speed that you would have slowed down to to go over them.
If the road isn't clear go over them.
If in doubt go over them.
