I for one want to see a much more in depth write up, with bigger photos. Properly IMG tagged, rather than that Imageshack bollocks.

Sounds like a great project.

haha ye it was a few links short and i had cut off the bottom suspension brackets and welded them on further up the swing arm to lift the rear end to complete my comfortable riding posistion so the pivot point of the swing arm was obstructing the chain i had to make a cheeky little adjustable chain roller out of a piece of angle and a skateboard wheel to fix onto it so the chain ran clean over it worked good Thumbs Up im stoked people have shown some possative feedback i thought everyone would say its a shitty banga so im well chuffed with that man . ill upload some more in the next few days

why didnt you go for a larger sprocket at the back, 8 teeth extra and then 2 up at the front to even it back out,

what are you going to do about the foot controls? keep them forward,
or move them to a more respectable place back under the seat,

the foot controls will stay forward for now i need to get it passed its mot in a couple of weeks and i have no money to buy welding rods or anything like that let alone sprockets but i did find a skateboard in a skip im even out of grinding discs | my favourite thing . but yea i would really like to move them back also add a hub to the top of the rear fender and make a nice brake light that one on there is off a jcb digger that i acquired i found some sheet metal recently so im going to make some sort of side panels and battery box wont be able to paint them yet tho . i w as also going to get a mono shock for the rear i found one for 25$ complete but it was 24$ to much id also like to have used a race tank i had a problem with the header bolt last week it threaded so i put in a bolt from underneath drilled out the centre of the original bolt feeded it through it and put the proper bolt back in and rubber that way. i was a bit worried about the engine when i first got it to be honest knowing that cbf,s and cbr 125s are popular learner bikes and 16 year olds have them who might be a bit more likely to do something as crazy as put two stroke in the tank and the oil tank on a 4 stroke engine because it stunk like 2 stroke i drained it out for 24 hours shaking it about now n then i even sucked on it lol to get any last bits out just incase . but its okay it runs nice i have cleaned it all out and made sure its all lined up and im having a lotta fun with this project man the last thing i need to do now is get my downpipe welded ive never tig welded before so im going to ask a friend to do it . will be coming from under the bike to the right hand side at a bit of an upward angle originally it was going to come up under the seat and the bike was going to be a sort of speedy bobber but the frame was to short for that solo seat bobber style
and i had another vision of what i wanted it to be where the whole thing was polished and clear powder coated with gold trim calipers nuts n the likes gold clip ons and nice spoke wheels but all that costs money i dont have and would of been overkill i was more concerned with how it rides than how it looks . so i would really like to move those foot controls back Thumbs Up i might be able to still im going to go and stand and stare at it for a long time just now and have a good think about it

yep its efi its already sorted all electrics and all the complete engine with electrics cdi ,pump everything needed cost a total of 150 and there not a year old so its sound . i do prefer older type engines that are not so heavily reliant on electrics but there ya go

you need image resizer for win 7 or winxp and resize the pics to medium,

your images were so large that my quad core pc stalled and i had to quit
firefox,

im really interested in seeing what you did, but i can't veiw this thread if you keep the images the same size,

please resize them

use www.photobucket.com to host them, it has all the relevent codes to use on any type of forum

use the https://cdn.bikechatforums.com/templates/standard/images/lang_english/icon_edit.gif key on the top right of your post

cheers

true enough, but you'd still have to upload a 1+meg per photo
as opposed to 100kbper photo

wow two years ago and i still sound like a nob .

well the project i completed very shortly after that last post.
and used it daily .
since then it has been remade 4 times
i did not take pictures of everyhting and lots was changed
cut off stuck on ,made ,machined ,frame reinforced ,smoothed out
heights varied electrics changed drum to disc foot controls moved all sorts of stuff ect ect .

i did say 2 years ago i would finnish this post so i intend to

the 300 budget was added to and ended up i calculated at being more at 530-550.(did not see that coming did you ) Laughing

a lot of that was spent on buying paint and little bits like air filters ,inline filters fuel lines and such pretty much everything that was made out of metal i needed i made myself or did what i could so as not to part with my hard earned . using things i found or scavanged for out of bins skips just anywhere

its just a little donkey appose to a work horse as you know . and it was a small victory for me having finished it and having no money and no help on the things i did not understand . i still have no money or understand anything . but it was a lot of fun

here are a few pictures of it through its various stages and changes during its being made ,re-made,re-made again

just to recap to start with it was a combination of a cbf 125 engine and electrics and a jinlun cruiser chinese salvage . and any bits of scrap i could find . in present day its comprised of about 6 bikes

ENGINE BRACKETS/CRADLE LINKAGES these were off the chinese bike and only needed to be modded to make fit
[/IMG]

the rear two brackets i had to make from some galv steel i found by a railway track. was straight forward no tape measures involved
angle grinder ,drill ,bit of sanding .done

FRAME. ..was a piece of shit steel tube banged together . weld splatter all over . but i do have to say the welds were decent and the joints were okay . other than being neglect of any pride
it took about a week just to clean up the rolling chasis after de rusting stripping all paint and the rest of it
it was a real state .
https://img191.imageshack.us/img191/5378/dscf0867vi.th.jpg
the 1st build i did not reinforce it or do to much other than cut the suspension brackets off the swing arm and then weld them further up the swing to lift the back end .

also using stevens body filler to smooth over gaps and nasty joints in the frame work
https://img213.imageshack.us/img213/5326/dscf0936x.th.jpg
during the last build i used a bar i torched in to fill these gaps and during the previous 2 builds i had cut away quite a lot of steel .
i did not take pictures from every build i have some of this and that .there are a lot but ill just throw a few photos up to give a vague idea of some of the things that took place

RED OXIDE . being steel i wanted some sort of protection all of this red oxide primer and paint is still no susbstitute for a good powder coat imo . but powder coating cost more than i had to spend nvm
https://img502.imageshack.us/img502/1935/dscf0939t.th.jpg

the undertray i re-used on the second build all of the frame work on it was cut away and only that bottom piece used .
https://img51.imageshack.us/img51/9571/dscf0952e.th.jpg

my rear fender was cut down . again i did not get technical i just looked at it drawed some lines chopped it up .
https://img528.imageshack.us/img528/5823/dscf1015w.th.jpg

this is a brake/indicator light from a jcb production line a man was kind enough to let me have a few whilst doing some construction work for them at there plant
https://img221.imageshack.us/img221/9018/dscf1022y.th.jpg
so with the fender cut i made a rough hole to fit the light and later improved it but the mok looked something like this
https://img802.imageshack.us/img802/6760/dscf1023b.th.jpg
i used a very high grade paper and rubbed down the indicator part .masked it off and sprayed it with a can . the entire build the 1st time round was done with rattle cans
https://img801.imageshack.us/img801/8115/p1010012ks.th.jpg
side panels after painting
https://img812.imageshack.us/img812/7351/p1010007eo.th.jpg
my tank and hub . i also had prepped and covered some of the dial and top yoke with carbon fibre vynl you can see here .at the time this was my cheap solution to not buying more paint . i soon took it back off and polished top yoke engine covers brake reservoir and other bits
https://img88.imageshack.us/img88/2364/dscf0946l.th.jpg
the front fender i cut down to a shape i prefered that would still do its job effective . with a piece that was cut from the front fender i moulded onto the newly made rear one and used fibre glass + filler to create my new shape . heres the piece cut from front
https://img513.imageshack.us/img513/8771/dscf1017p.th.jpg
and here it is after being made into the rear and painted
https://img585.imageshack.us/img585/4048/p1010006c.th.jpg
i later changed this rear fender again . on the 3rd build i think after playing with seat heights and suspension again

after not to much thought i grabbed a couple of cans of hammerite smooth to paint my frame in .BAD IDEA . not nice to use at all it is much better suited to gate posts and things like that . i had a real struggle with the stuff but managed to get it looking good in the end . on the second build and afterwards i was using a paint gun and proper set up . the hammerite smooth i have yet to try cut with thinners and sprayed with a gun . but the spray cans of it are a nightmare
well with that i was ready to fit the engine
https://img209.imageshack.us/img209/2982/dscf0955b.th.jpg
https://img194.imageshack.us/img194/1281/dscf0956o.th.jpg
https://img713.imageshack.us/img713/8613/dscf0958w.th.jpg
https://img191.imageshack.us/img191/2504/dscf0957l.th.jpg
https://img152.imageshack.us/img152/9366/dscf1002oe.th.jpg
https://img152.imageshack.us/img152/4321/dscf1063d.th.jpg

SLASHCUT NO!!!! hacksaw cut. after making some clamps to hold the parts of tube in place to get the desired shape of my exhaust i had to call in help from a friend im sad to say because i cannot tig weld very good . its the only thing i had help with and i feel ashamed of that
https://img225.imageshack.us/img225/2831/dscf1026d.th.jpg

i did not like the bars i had to use wich were from the cruiser i wanted straight bars . after mooching about a bit i discovered this. wich turned out to be the perfect size
https://img341.imageshack.us/img341/1526/dscf1012k.th.jpg
after a bit of work it polished up like new . i dont really have a picture of it after polishing but you can see it on the bike in some of the later photos to come . so that was my bars taken care of . for then at least . it now has clip ons

after 1200 miles of the origonal build i remade it again completely and . heres the engine starting to be stripped . i stripped it as far as i could without splitting it. and triple checked everything .prepped it for painting . polished the cases and rocker cover .and put it back together after making some new gaskets
https://img201.imageshack.us/img201/5880/dscf2029m.th.jpg
https://img534.imageshack.us/img534/7118/dscf2028gm.th.jpg
https://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6295/dscf2031sp.th.jpg

i will have to skipp a lott of the work and just start showing u it after the second time i made the bike . so here it is after the second design .
https://img820.imageshack.us/img820/1762/dscf2056l.th.jpg
https://img201.imageshack.us/img201/4796/dscf2057on.th.jpg
https://img820.imageshack.us/img820/1762/dscf2056l.th.jpg
lots changed after this as well . here you can see the foot controls have moved back amongst other things .

the latest changes i have made are it now uses a 520 pitch chain and sprockets for wich i had to mod the engine case slightly
and uses aprillia rs 125 wheels . so i now have a back disc brake instead of drum that i fitted
a tokio caliper off a zx10 . having made a silver steel torque bar and machining an adapter from a old gate post .i think the foot controls i picked up for about 15 pound if i remember rite they was off a yamaha 600 and the clip ons i cant remember what they came off . they were battered when i got them . apart from the caliper and brake lines they were new i got for a great price .

heres the making of my brake adapter to fit what i needed to
used a file . didnt need anything else
https://img835.imageshack.us/img835/8238/p1010160s.th.jpg
https://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7001/p1010161r.th.jpg
https://img507.imageshack.us/img507/9844/p1010163b.th.jpg
https://img196.imageshack.us/img196/9831/p1010164h.th.jpg
https://img812.imageshack.us/img812/1526/p1010166bd.th.jpg

i forgot to mention my spot lights . they have a blue outer led ring i use as daytime lights .i made a bracket
after fitting a switch to disable the main headlight and instrument lights . the switches i use for the spots are from the back of old computer power supply units .
i built the switches into my tank hub.
the actual psu metal boxes i turned into a battery box . will show pics of both tomorrow . i have to sleep soon so ill just upload a couple more
https://img805.imageshack.us/img805/433/p1010151y.th.jpg
i just found pics of the bike after the third time i made it . in these ones you can see i have made a new seat and the newer wheels on and new brakes
https://img811.imageshack.us/img811/6431/p1010157bu.th.jpg
https://img834.imageshack.us/img834/9191/p1010152as.th.jpg

theres a lott more to come Unfortunately.

i have to sleep for now so will upload some more tomorrow .

and thankyou for the initial support when i first mentioned this project 2 years ago . cheers Thumbs Up
