I am pretty much clueless when it comes to modifications, so here goes.

I have a 02 speed4 (EFI). Is there anything to be gained by changing the stock air filter to an H&K hi flow or similar and getting a new end can? Will it need a remapping or will EFI sort itself out with the increased air intake?

Thanks Karma

almost certain you will have NO noticeable gain's with what you said,

you will have a more " Deep " Duct noise, which will sound awesome and give a nice note Thumbs Up

and with the exhaust you will be sure to get a raspy effect, so basically in short' terms, YES you will but it will be sound rather than power increase Thumbs Up

Don't get me wrong you may have some gain's in some area's but i wouldn't have thought it will make that much difference.

with a quick Google search it's come up a lot of speed four's are running lumpy with these modification's and some people have had to have them remapped Thumbs Down

Thanks Matt.
Speed fours run lumpy from the factory between 2-4k rpm and that the main thing i want to get around. The good thing is you can get them remapped w/o a power commander etc. I guess I should be after a rolling road / dyno place to get that sorted?

if your after more power a Power commander would be your best choice in fact, but i think you should be getting it to the Dyno, they will fine tune it, and they will tell you exactly how much of a increase you will get from modification's Thumbs Up

Don't know how much Dyno run's are in your area but i wouldn't of thought it would have been over £100 then at least you will get a fine tune professionally done and without spending hundred's of pounds trying to put it right with modification's etc ...

Hope this help's

You can modify the ECU using the tuneECU available from https://tuneecu.com/

That's better than a power commander! Thumbs Up

Usually you can sort out the 2-4k rpm lumpy engine run, by just using this. No need for air filter and exhaust upgrades

I mentioned that in my first post I think. I know there is no need for a PC, the only problem is I have no idea what to do with this software... All the maps I found online are setup for aftermarket exhaust/filter and I don't know how they will behave with stock items.

I don't even know what all the numbers on the RPM/TPS table mean so I don't want to start fiddling with fuelling etc on my own as I will surely make things worse.

Anyone know of a dyno place around Bham that know how to work with TuneECU? I think ts quite different to a power commander, no ?
