I'm 16 right now, ride an Aprilia RS50! Always been big into my bikes, used to ride my dads CBR900 fireblade when I was 15, but when I turn 17 I want to do my test (if I can afford it) but I don't want a 125 so my only other option is to get a bike R6, GSXR, ninja etc and restrict it to 33bhp Sad but what are your thoughts on this? Is it necessary? Will I really get stopped by the police and get my bike crushed?

Licence laws have changed. You can't have an R6 at 17. It has too much horsepower before restriction.

Yep and then do another test to be able to ride anything up to 35KW machine. Normally between 250 and 500cc.

Then 2 years later do another test on a bike bigger than 595cc and then you can ride what ever you want.

I enjoy my bikes though, probably end up with an RS125 that will break twice a month

Just get some heap of shit 125 until you can pass your tests, there's no point wasting your money on a nice one just to upgrade as you will likely lose money

They all have shit performance anyway really

I'd say get an NSR125 as well, they're probably the most reliable 2 stroke sports bike u can buy, as long as it's been well looked after by the previous owner.

But running an NSR isn't cheap, the price of re-filling 2stroke oil and petrol every week is a bastard.

You've missed the 33bhp window my friend. Blame your parents for not having sex earlier.

As long as it isn't a derestricted 2 stroke, because if it as you will still be riding illegally, that'll be 6 points for not riding in accordance with your licence and that will invalidate your insurance, which means another 6 points. Thumbs Up

Even if you did have the chance to get the 33bhp licence.. Good luck to insuring any one of those bikes.

I'll have to agree with the NSR 125 comments. If you're going to be stuck on a 125 for a while, make it an NSR.

They're nippy enough for a good laugh.
