Dt 125 playing up in the rain

Hi, had my dt for about 3/4 months now and i've noticed that whenever it rains heavily my bike will lose a lot of it's power and splutter in the low/mid range revs it can be dangerous tbh because i will be WOT only going about 20mph because of it playing up then all of a sudden the spluttering would stop for a few seconds and id get a burst of power.
Any idea to what could cause this?

Sounds like your getting water into the cylinder causing spluttering.

Check the air filter, clean it...

Even water on the coil can effect the running,

When raining and it's running poorly, running at 20mph , hit killseiych take the plug out and see if its overly wet...

Ok thanks matt, does the air filter need to be oiled? I was thinking it could be dry, would a dry airfilter have anything to do with this?

if i am correct it's a light gear oil however, it would not make a difference the engine would still run fine.

let us know how you get on, also make sure their is no crack's or anything in inlet manifold for water to get in Thumbs Up

I had a DT new years ago. Yamaha had put a metal spark plug cap on. When in rain it would cut out and die. New cap sorted the problem.

I had this problem with my dt. New cap for the spark plug, cut the ht lead back a few mm on both ends. screw it back in. spray with holts damp start
