Hi
I recently purchased a Betor rear shock and spring for my bike.(ebay)
Although my bike is a kmx the shock fits perfectly.
The problem i have is when i have the bike stood on the ground it doesnt bounce back up correctly. The best way to describe it is that i push down on the seat and the bike comes back up in slow motion!!
The Shock is one that cant be opened for servicing but does have a schrader type valve for putting Nitrogen in.
One other thing when the bike is on its stand i can pull the back wheel up and it bounces back down perfectly.

I think someone has let the nitrogen out.
What do you think?

Many thanks for reading
John

It could be that the nitrogen has come out or leaked over time ,,or that the bladder is leaking itself. Add to this that the oil in the shock might be like frothy milk due to years of use..

Show us a pic of the said item.. Thumbs Up

Also make sure your linkages are all lubed up and not sticking as this will also cause the same symptoms.

Id check this and what vincent has said first.. Thumbs Up

Thanks for the replies.
The shock is on the bike using the correct bolts etc which are only finger tight at the moment. The linkage is all lubed and moves freely/

Is the shock adjustable? Since it was never designed for use on your bike, the rebound damping may be too much. If you can, reduce rebound damping and try again.

Hi
Ive got the shock off the bike and removed the spring.
I can compress the shock quite easily by hand but it is quite a struggle to extend it again.I have to hold it in a vice and use both hands to pull it out.
There is nothing leaking anywhere..

does sound like there is too much rebound damping.

are there any adjusters on the shock at all ?

did you buy it secondhand then off eBay? If so if no joy with above can you go back to the seller and ask what the solution to it is?

There is no adjustment at all on this shock.
Ive checked out a few website and it sounds like too much rebound damping can be caused by nitrogen leakage/someone fiddling.
Do you agree?

See that screw up by the gold end, turn it.
Compress the shock by hand then turn that and you'll find it uncompress much more easily.

is the preload adjustable?

If the shock has no adjustments at all, and is for a different bike, I would hazard a guess that it isn't suitable for what you want it to do.

He filled it with Nitrogen,i put it on the bike and it works great. Very Happy
Thanks for your advice
