Its a ybr 125, engine starts but no drive, i had a go at opening the final drive cover, but screw wont budge, and in order to the gear shafts/clutch plates there is alot things to remove which im not comfortable with doing as i doubt ill put everything back properly.

Hi Chris i would be for ever grateful if you could come and have a look, sunday would be fantastic.

On the ybr the bits that ive tried to remove mainly need screw driver and spanner. I just have had so many people tell me possible faults, i.e clutch lever, clutch friction plates, carburetor, gear shafts, sprocket in final drive, gear shafts. dont know where to start.

have you read the service manual found below,

www.gnuen.dk/binary/YBR125servicemanual.pdf

the screw/bolt you said is stuck do you think it is stuck because it's seized or because you do not have the correct size tool for it?, ill be bringing my own bike so will only be able to bring limited tools so knowing as much in advance as i can would help. do you have access to any tools?

just about any garage are likely to charge you £80+ plus to change the clutch, quick look on ebay shows new plates are less than £20. have you followed tef's advice from your workshop post and checked that a, when you pull the clutch lever the arm at the gearbox end moves and b, the front sprocket hasn't worked loose, aside from either of those 2 issues you can be fairly sure to say that on a bike you were riding perfectly fine with no grinding or banging noises before hand that suddenly won't take up drive that it's just the clutch plates have gone, id expect a failure of something such as a shaft in the gearbox to be giving quite a noticeable whine for awhile before failing so id honestly order the clutch plates and diy it

Ive tried to follow tef and other peoples advice as much as i could, ive got ybr manual and haynes manual.

I managed to drain the engine oil Smile lol

I thought it was the clutch plate as most people on my other thread have said, but when i spoke to the wsb guy he said that its unlikley to be the clutch friction plates as it only done 6000 miles.

I wanted to try and replace the clutch plates but i got to take the stand assembly off, and some rod attached to the break, which if im quite honest im scared ill royally fuck it up.

Thanks,

When you say grinding, i was on the dual carriageway and trying to change gear up, when in the highest gear and it was grinding but apart from that no.

Odd, with a sequential gearbox if you push up on the pedal whilst easing off the gas it should snick into the next gear quite easily without grinding...

Downshifts are quite another matter, but if your clutch has gone phut you can get a grindy, jerky change by winding on the throttle whilst stamping down.

Or is it that this is the noise it's making whilst supposedly in a gear, and you've released the clutch, but no power is going to the wheel?

Bad advice there.

When slowing, put a slight downward pressure on the shifter with the throttle off.

It won't move until it's time for it to click down a gear nice and smoothly with no crunching or bullshit or any chance of flipping the bike.
