Wondering if cracks forming around the drill holes on my rear disc (diversion 900) are an auto MOT failure?
The mounting holes are fine they're just small crack a few mm each
that seem to be forming around the drilled vent holes.
It was a cheap replacement, about £40 on ebay rather than an original Yamaha one - probably a good reason to pay the extra for the dearer discs though must have had a good 70k miles use nonetheless...

If the MOT doesn't fail it (and it will if the tester spots them) the crash you'll probably have when the disc disintegrates on a high-speed brake will almost certainly fail your life-support systems. Laughing

Hetzer is right. What is going to happen if you get a stress fracture between the cracks on the disc and it jams on the pads? Rolling Eyes

Thanks I only just noticed them coming up a new disc shall be fitted . Unusual thing to happen though don't you think? Maybe the materials just aren't up to scratch on these cheaper rotors.

Probably made in china, and as we all know those cheap prideless cunts couldn't make a paper bag fit for purpose unless a westerner is holding their hands and watching over their shoulders.

It's actually pretty common, even on OEM discs.

Yep, it happens on drilled discs. even ultra expensive Porsche's have this problem.

Yep. It used to be common on Brembo discs fitted to BMW tourers. Brake discs have to handle a lot of physical and thermal stress.
