Ok, so my scottoiler is attached to the carb vacuum take off, and Scottoiler website says 2 drops a minute is good.

My adjuster knob is turned down to it absolute minimum, it won't turn down any more and its still dripping 3 to 4 a minute and plastering the side of the bike on long runs.

Is there anything I can fit inline on the vaccum pipe to adjust further?

What colour oil are you using?

The vacuum just acts like a switch to turn it on and off. Varying the vacuum won't alter the oil flow.

There is a needle valve in the bottom of the scotoiler which is attached to a rubber diaphragm by a plastic rod. When there is a vacuum, the diaphragm is sucked up which opens the needle valve and the oil runs out under gravity.

The adjuster alters how far up the diaphragm can move.

So. What you actually need to do is reduce the flow of oil and since you have run out of adjustment on the oiler itself you could try one of the following:
1) Use thicker oil.
2) Mount the oiler lower down so there is less head of pressure.
3) Fit something that restricts the flow of oil through the delivery tube such as an inline tap or a clamp that pinches the tube.

OR

You spent a small fortune on a plastic tube with a needle valve in the bottom, a rubber diaphragm and a handful of plastic hose. There is about £5 worth of parts in a scotoiler. You're paying for the idea, not the item. Get in touch with them for advice and make them earn the other £65

I'm using the blue oil. 0-30c temp range I beleive.

The resevoir is under the seat and the supply tube goes forwards, then down past the swing arm pivot and back along the swingarm.

Maybe its too high?

I referr you once again to my last suggestion.

Phone scotoiler and ask what they advise. I'd be interested to hear.

Using the thicker red oil will slow the flow, is it an old scotoiler? in the manual it says that older one may need to use thicker oil as they wear.

It is old, it came with the bike, but the lady owner before used it for touring. Its done 300 miles in the last 10 years so I assume it was fitted when in active use.

As for calling Scott oiler people, I'm at work so will try later.
Its more obvious than internet-ing

I know you say the reservoir is under the seat but is it in a position where it gets heat from the engine? My oiler is attached to a trim panel above and behind the engine, when I'm out for a longer run it does start to get warm and the oil flow rate increases.

You can try asking scottoiler but I don't know how inteligent an answer you will get - for my bike their internet instructions tell you to mount the reservoir where the toolkit should live.....and you then keep the toolkit where?.....

One thing you could try (along with thicker oil) is to heat and draw out the end of the tube into a nozzle, this should give it a bit of restriction.
