Hey guys, just a random one as it popped into my head..

What's the biggest fuel tank you've seen on a bike that's not huge.. let's say <1000cc? So none of those horrible big american wagon-bikes Razz.

Fed up of having a bike that only holds about 4 trickles of fuel :/

You can buy a 23 litre tank for the TT600R Laughing It currently is around 9, but you can only seem to fit about 7 litres in. Laughing

My mate has a KTM adventure with a safari tank fitted. It holds 40 litres.

As standard bikes go. A kawasaki Tangai had a pretty large tank. 24 litres I think.

Kwak GT550 has something like a 20 litre tank. Engine is fairly economical too so they have a pretty good range.

I know that the CG125 held about 13litres i think, which basically means they run forever on a tank of fuel, well at least after being used to a KMX200 with a 9L tank and 50-60miles to reserve. Laughing

I think the 500cc GP replica's all had pretty big tanks of over 20-23litres for some reason too?

Maybe because 500GP replica bikes only did in the mid teens of mpg if ridden at any sort of speed and needed to carry enough fuel to get to the next petrol station.

One presumes the bikes they were a replica of were even worse and needed to carry enough fuel to complete the race.

My wife's 1998 GPZ500 achieves 60mpg in regular riding and has an 18L tank. That's an easily achievable 200 miles per tank.

My 2011 G650GS has a 14L tank (typically seems to take 12 even if you push it between fill-ups) and returns 75mpg. 180 miles is my typical tank range.

Edit: The G650GS isn't that small.

I bet it was fun planning a long Sunday ride out with your mates on those things though! You'd know every petrol station in the county, and where you could get decent 2stroke oil and a set of plugs before they oiled up again! Oh the fun! Laughing

My KTM690 has 12l standard with an additional 14l safari tank.
My rat BMW R100RT had a circa 28 litre rally tank bodged on it.

But yes, mpg to fuel tank is more important I'd say.

It's dead simple, I used to go for the odd ride out on my Dads KH350 triple and you simply stopped at every filling station you passed. It had a tank range of 52 miles. A tank of 2-stroke would last a few days though.

Hi

The old Aprilia Tuareg Rally 125 had a (claimed) 24L tank. Old Paris Dakar style bikes could be a bit silly like that.

All the best

CB5 has an 18L tank. Not massive but reasonable for a 500.
Tank range is roughly 250 miles.

There is no good reason for anyone to buy a GPZ500, they are horrible bikes which should all be melted down and turned into something better, like chinese 125s Laughing

Lmfao. I rang the guy last night, but he works night shifts.. his wife answered saying he's still got it (thank fuck.. thought it was gonna be gone after he said someone was gonna come and look at it on Monday), and to ring him today after 2pm.

So shall call him in a little while. Apparently he has the next 4 days off work, so should be able to pop down and have a look at some point. I get paid tomorrow anyway, so all should be fine and dandy so long as the bike is as beautiful in the flesh, and he isn't too stubborn about the price (y).

Pick what you like and get one of these:

When I finally get my zombie apocalypse machine it will have at least one aux tank.
