Put IMG tags round your picture links, very few people can be bothered to click multiple links.

Except use [] instead of {}.

That tends to happen with old bikes.

So i am just wondering would i be able to make a new one if i have the wiring diagram and follow my old wiring harness ?

Yes you could do that.

has anybody done this before ? what price would i be looking at ? any help is welcome thanks |
I have done it before. Its not a fun job in the least. More of a massive pain in the arse. If you can avoid it then do so.
To do it yourself probably budget around £70 or so for wires/connectors/fuse boxes/terminators/tape etc. Presuming you already have a soldering iron, multi-meter and some electronics skills.
To get someone else to do It, well tbh I dont know. I do it myself. From other people's experience id expect it to be anything from £400 to £900 for a full job. ____________________ Former: Derbi GP1 50, Sachs XTC 125, Suzuki GSXR 400 GK73A, Kawasaki ZX7R, Suzuki DR250, Yamaha RD350

What you want for those stubborn bolts is a product called 'plusgas'. It should be available from any decent autoparts dealer (NOT halfrauds, they only sell their own brand shit). Failing that then heat them up with a blowtorch and then undo them.
For the allen key heads if your REALLY stuck then use a dremel to cut a flat head in the screw and unscrew them with a screwdriver. ____________________ Former: Derbi GP1 50, Sachs XTC 125, Suzuki GSXR 400 GK73A, Kawasaki ZX7R, Suzuki DR250, Yamaha RD350

Took more bits and parts off, including brake unit

Managed to get this off after much deliberation on how to do it, but in the end was a simple jubilee clip

This is how it stands now, was quite please the amount i got done, but yep the exhaust is still on, ive managed to get 1 bolt or each of the middle two pipes with the help of plusgas, blowtorch and breaker bar, but i have 2 bolts remaining where the heads have been rounded, started to cut a slot in one for a screwdriver bit but dont have a wide enough screwdriver in my garage, so what are my options at the minute, what happens if the bolts snap or i cant get it off, im not holding my breathe as a screwdriver bit isnt going to be as good as using an allen key bit or socket |

Heat, penetrating oil, and time. Not all at the same time, because penetrating oil is flammable, of course, but leave it to soak in the stuff for a day or two. It may ease the bolts a bit. If they were anywhere else, I'd say hammer a torx bit into the rounded bolts, but the cylinder head is not somewhere where I'd want to see a knackered thread, so go easy on anything that involves impacts.
Stud extractors might be a good place to start; you may need to drill into the bolt a bit to give the extractor something to bite into, though.
If they still won't shift, you could try drilling them out/collapsing them. You will need to be extremely careful, though.
I had the same problem with the GS650GT in my sig, and collapsing the bolt was what worked for me, but it was done with help, and a hefty dose of ringpiece-twitching anxiety throughout. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

Managed to get the exhaust of finally but it can at a price or one snapped bolt and some of the engine where the exhaust goes to snapped off, i dont know if this is fixable or do you have to get a new engine part ? but while i was thinking, could i just make a complete custome bike, different engine, lights, speedo, fairings, i know you will need to make custome mounting points on the frame for engine etc and i know itll cost alot more than just buying a new bike but im in no rush and if it can be done there wont be another bike out there like it so any advice welcome thanks

Try some left hand drill bits, you need a drill that can run in reverse but the idea is that the drill generates a lot of heat as its cutting and because its running backwards when it snags it will unwind the bolt that you are drilling through
If you wind a tapered extractor in then the risk is that it will make the remains of the bolt spread out locking it into the hole, worse is if it snaps, theyre super tough and you need a super special drill bit to get that out. |
