Not really hard to figure out the effects.. right?

Odd feel to the bike, steering harder, feels like it's dropping suddenly into the corner..

Replace it, if that's what you're actually asking.

The rear on my CB is squared off.
I've not noticed any real negative effects. Still have a good amount of tread left, probably >5mm.

Is it actually that significant as long as you're not trying to get your knee down? I'd be replacing the rear every 5k or less, all I do is motorway.

Had my rear BT023 square off on the Triumph not so long ago, it was horrible. Fine in a straight line, fine at a slight bend, fine when right over on its side, but on a medium lean it was like a knife edge. And especially accelerating out of a bend, it'd make the back feel like it's wobbling when you roll on the throttle and get a bit more on the gas as the bike comes upright.

Awful.

No, I just attempted to answer the OPs question about it. Although If his motorbike was acting oddly, then saw his rear tyre was squared, how didn't he link where the problem was for himself?

Or am I a cunt. Probably a cunt. Laughing

My last rear part worn was squared off, had all the effects of the above mentioned, took it out for a good 60 odd mile or so scrub in and it sorted it out, just take it easy in corners until the profile wears down again...

Interesting as I've been having issues setting off at junctions. When turning right the bike does feel it's going to fall, as in turn in quicker. Will go and check when it's light.

Thumbs Up

When I first bought my FZR the front tyre had almost had it. After riding it 3 weeks, I kept losing the front, felt horrible turning in like yours, etc. Basically looked like /^\ when a normal tyre is (^) if you see what I mean. Replaced it and felt great.

Would also check your headrace bearings, I know that causes a horrible sensation turning in too, when knackered.

Resistance to turn-in, then 'falling in' when you've got it turning. Squirming over white lines.

Aside from feeling like you're falling in, is it actually dangerous to use squared off tyres? As in, do you suffer any loss in grip due to the profile?

I never noticed any adverse effects, but like I said above, I took it on a good run with varying degrees of lean and speed to scrub it off, just feel funny as you lean then tip over the profile, once you get used to that feeling you're ok, just don't go mad on it...

When leaning with squared rubber your contact patch is greatly reduced until you pass the "lip".

Makes for interesting riding in the wet.

No but it could be the result.
