Thats rediculous....how long would it really take to brush out a few leaves from the important areas on the mod1 course?

Id be livid.....i take it every autumn this happens at their mod1 centre so why oh why cant they be prepared for it?

I thought it was bolloks. Obviously "not my job syndrome". They must check the course each morning, so why not take a brush with them when the give the course a walk round? "not my job".
The guy said thye cant do the tests until the leaves are cleared, which i took to mean, until someone gets someone to call someone to come to the centre with a broom and probably charge some ridiculous contractor rate to sweep a few yards of tarmac.
I thought it might be cancelled because of ice as it was freezing cold but leaves, so fucking british. :-/

Sorry to hear that.

Shit happens, I guess. Especially a PITA after maybe taking time-off work and psyching-up for it.

I think after ive passed my tests im going to write a letter to the DSA. Its not worth kicking up a fuss before hand, ya dont want to create hassle for an examiner and put their back up prior to tests.

Sounds like a good idea, what a bunch of morons. Jeeze, I'd feel so embarrassed as an examiner telling people that, that I'd just get out there with a brush. Heck, if they rang me and told me it was cancelled, and I'd booked time off work anyway, I'd go sweep it myself!

Key point: you couldn't even see any leaves.

Sounds like DSA Derek just wanted some time in a warm office. Thumbs Down

There were some pine trees bordering the end of the course and it had been a windy night so I'm sure there were some pine needles down but hardly a difficult job to sweep up. This is why I'm going to fire off a letter. But yeah Roger I did think it was a nice excuse for the guy to hang out in the office.

Ooh, that's annoying! We've had leaves on the roads here for the past week or so, hasn't stopped me riding!

Good idea, kick up a fuss AFTER passing your test, wise move.

My instructor was telling me he had a student doing their Mod2 in January, and the tests got delayed in the morning because there was still some snow on the roads, on only ONE of the test routes.

The DSA's answer was "come back later, if the snows melted the tests will happen".

So they go riding round for a few hours, come back. DSA say go away come back in an hour.

Eventually in the mid afternoon the test is cancelled. Yet the DSA didn't mind sending the learner out and back again on their own. And they could have picked ANY of the other routes to go to avoid the snow. Sounds like lazy/cosy syndrome on their part

I only hope they move to find you another slot pretty rapid, as they have cancelled YOUR test from a reason that is without doubt questionable.

I did my Mod 1 in the rain, it had stopped raining hard and was light rain. There was standing water in the braking area for emergency stops. I still managed to go through at 57&58 Kmph Smile

Got to agree with the good attitude comment, after you have passed, which you will! Ensure you pen some strongly worded letters to anyone who will listen!

There's many a true word spoken in jest. They're trying to put the kybosh on going back to a single on-road test because (they say) they'd have to carry cones and put them out for the swerve (why?) and it would involve too much bending for the examiner.

I wish I were making that up.

I'm really pissed off now! i've received an email giving me a new Mod 1 date. The 3rd December at 8:30 am !!!!!!!! For fucks sake what are they doing? What do they think a car park on some cliffs above the north sea in aberdeen is going to be like at that time in the morning in december!!! The 3rd of December!!!!!!!!!!

There's a local number to call to check if the tests are being done in case the weathers bad, are they taking the piss or what!!!!!!

Just keep checking...you may get lucky Smile

So because THEY cant be arsed to clear a few leaves, YOU have to wait a month.

Youd think under the circumstances with so many people desperate to pass by January, they would put themselves out just a little bit and do a bit of overtime to clear the backlog...rather than being stubborn jobsworths who cancel tests for the silliest little things and appear not to care.

Is there not another test centre you could go to that may have a sooner date?
