Just a silly thought, I had a F650 BMW with very similar symptons, and spent weeks cleaning carbs, airways, etc etc.
Turned out to be knackered spark plug caps.................
Just a thought, but your circumstances and symptons sound the same.
Running along, things a bit cooler - no problem.
Restart and ride off / traffic, things a bit hotter - problem ____________________ BWJ
