Bike make model and year.

Changed the throttle? Whole cable or just the grips? Or just adjusted the play?
did you lube it up?

Hi thanks for reply 2003 extreme ( although I know it's not an extreme but it's on the v5 as that lol) I changed the whole throttle and twist as the cable snapped and the twist grip had broken I never lubed up was aware was needed as never done that before and been ok :s its dusted all the way ( as in I can't get anymore extra wire this it another thing that makes me think it's routed incorrect?? It's just strange only on pull off and no other time

P.s it's ok in the carb as The slide is opening and closing freely

Thanks

Make sure the outer cable is not snagging on the frame somewhere. When you 'pull away' it's posible that is what's giving it the juice.
There may be a little steering input as you correct the direction as you move off.

Hi it's not snagged its free its either routed crud or I'm going to try lube as cable may be sticking on the throttle side if that doesn't work I give up lol

I'm assuming this is some kind of small two stroke.

First off, did you have to take the slide out of the throttle to change the cable? If so, you may have put it in back to front.

You may have also neglected the spring above the slide.

If you remove and refitted the throttle grip, it should be totally clean underneath, no oil or grease. That just picks up crud and goes sticky in no time.

If the cable is routed correctly and you're rolling it shut at the bar, then the problem is going to be at the carb end.

Of course look at your speedo cable & throttle.

Make sure cable is correctly routed to your throttle as it says in a Haynes manual, make sure it's in the top of the carburettor.

The issue I had recently is, the float height was incorrectly adjusted so it was allowing more fuel in on start up, even sometimes at the lights the bike would rev higher. Plus if I left the fuel on / reserve, off was the only way it would stop leaking out the overflow and air filter side of te carb.

Maybe worth taking into account.

100% ? That's high given its a RS Laughing

Check where it's routed, as I read before recently putting paraffin in the cable clean it nicely, and oil it after cab work wonders.

Don't forget that the throttle cable splits in two as it also goes to the oil pump.

The stickiness is usually found in the junction box as it gets filled up with shit.
