I've got my Module 2 in mid-november, I could really do with it a bit sooner to allow for more time before the end of the year.

I've checked all within reach and they are 6-8 weeks. Are there 'secret' waiting lists?

I could do with one in 2-3 weeks.

Keep checking for cancellations is all you can do. Some schools block book so may be worth seeing if any local schools have anything sooner.

Just keep checking - someone might fail their Mod 1 today and have their Mod 2 booked in for Friday, you never know Wink

Did you just keep going into the 'change' your booking section? Then trying available dates?

Last I recall, but that was years ago. Check in the afternoon, after folk have had a chance to fail their mod 1s. Actually check as frequently as you can, every other bugger will be.

A proper suction applied to the instructors will yield you the results.

I would like to know the answer to this aswell. Do you check online to view new dates do you need to keep calling up?

I would really like to have my mod one before 12 November! Evil or Very Mad
But I think OP will have more luck getting a cancelled mod 2 date than I will a cancelled mod 1. Thumbs Down

[quote="Rob Fzs"]check the dsa website at least twice a day and fingers crossed something will come up, it always worked for me.[/q

Or better still, check the site at least twice per hour, it updates until 23:40 each night.

If you're not able to be at pc constantly then get someone up to speed with your details & get them to keep trying on your behalf.

It can & DOES work Thumbs Up

Yep, I just kept going to the change your booking section and seeing what other dates came up. I found an earlier one as soon as I had passed my Mod 1, and the one I chose wasn't the only one. You'll definitely get one sooner if you keep checking, there seems to be plenty of people on here failing their Mod 1 for a start Razz

This is probably one of the worst parts of getting a test booked and I was quite surprised at first, being naive and generally a nice sort of chap.

Training schools book blocks of spaces and fill in the rider details the day before. If they can't fill the space they still end up paying - iirc you can cancel a week or so before, not in the same week.

So if they can't fill the space and there's not enough time for them to cancel and get a refund they don't bother cancelling because "Why should I help out my competitors - I've paid, I can't get any money back."

It's a shame they don't group together on this, but hey - that's why I'm not a business man.

However it does mean that their shitty attitude might make it easy for you. It might be worth calling a training school to see if they have any they've booked and can't use, you can pay them, then they've lost nothing. You might just get lucky... I said might...

As above, just keep checking and hope for a space. Be prepared to take a short-notice booking, though - schools will hang on to the bookings until the last minute, then cancel just before the cut-off date to get a refund. Might be worth priming work/school for a short notice absence.

Once again, you've come through for me. Spent the last (almost 24 hours) looking for test dates, found one for the 15th Oct, their nearest after that was the 19th November!!!

That gives me another couple of weeks of practice, I do a daily commute of 30 miles across ALL road types, so as long as I don't forget the important stuff I should be good.

Thanks

The examiner is just looking for you to ride safely, making good progress. That means he doesn't want to see you dilly dallying (GO if the way is clear), but he also needs to see evidence that you are aware of your surroundings.

That doesn't just mean doing token shoulder checks when pulling away like a good robot, it means checking junctions, crossings, lane mergers, proper PLANNING of your road speed and position in good time.

With your level of commuting you have a good chance to polish and refine your ride. Good luck.
