Hi everyone, My name is Catalin, I'm 20, new on this forum and I want to show you my project with a 2011 Yamaha R6, crashed. I just bought her 2 days ago, the guy hit a car not at very high speed and dropped on the right side. The list is: forks, front fairing, headlight, speedometer and a rear fairing which is not very important. Now.. I tried to start it using jumpers from my car and I had no success. You can hear the gas pump when turning the contact and the engine is spinning but it's not starting. That's my main issue, does anyone know what I should do? Has it got an immobiliser or something that doesn't let the bike start after the crash? I wanna tell you that the bike is sitting in the garage since february and the battery is flat. I'll post some pictures as well. Thanks in advance!

checked some fuses today, found a small fuses box just near the radiator and the battery ones. where can the main fuse be? took all the fairing off and i'm waiting for the forks to come.. and i already ordered all the fairing, headlight, everything. it's too new to streetfight it, my opinion.. this bike is worth fixing

It's a 2011 r6 black and gold..And yes, i checked the small boxes with like 5-6 fuses, they're ok. I checked the 2 fuses from the battery but there was no point because the battery is working, with jumpers.

Main fuse is next to the battery under the seat. It's a block like connector red in colour if i remember correctly (haven't worked for yamaha for about 4 years now) is has plastic on the top that acts like a window so you can see clearly if the fuse has blown. If the bike is missing the clocks this might cause some issues as the thing is practically a computer that controlls everything from fuel ratios to diagnostics, its a serious bit of kit.

Has this bike not have a tilt switch some place ? usually to cut the fuel pump and other electronics in case of it going down ?

Good thought, find the tilt switch and give it a tap. It shouldn't stick but it might have done.

Saying that, when mine went faulty it didn't cut the bike out at all. It just put the engine management light on Confused

Really good point here, the odometer is completely missing, i was thinking about this but curiosity just made me try to start it just like that. Now, anyone knows where that tilt switch could be? And, when i'm gonna mount the new speedo it's gonna need a resoft or something like that?
There are two fuses connected to the battery checked them but they are okay

nea, I tried everything.. with the clutch it won't start. first gear, clutch in, lifted the jack, same.. i believe that it needs the speedo to start.. and I searched the tilt switch but I can't find it.

ok. starting the bike was not a problem, managed to start it with the new speedo. changed the forks, mounted the whole front end back, the bike is working properly. now, the problem that i have.. when i mounted the side pannels i saw that the wheel is still touching the fairing at the bottom. i think it could be the head of the forks, i am not sure.. so the bike is going next week to Yamaha in Woking. I will let them sort the forks out. I hope it won't be any major problem, I am 100% sure that the frame is ok. After this, the project is heading to the finish.. Smile

could be, one of the yokes or the pipe between them.. when the wheel is straight the yoke stands a bit to the right, it's not quite in his straight position..

Have u got a problem with me or what? don't say nothing about someone until u met them. I didn't ofense anyone so don't you do it!
And scuze me that i will let yamaha do the forks for me properly in stead of me ruining it. i wouldn't want to ride a 2011 bike which is completely repaired by me. If you would, your problem.

Do not take it there - they are rubbish. Take it to Fletchers Autos across the road from there. Kevin who runs the garage used to work for Yamaha and knows his stuff. And he will be a lot cheaper!
