i was just wondering what a ducati would cost in insurance and its cheaper than a honda CBF600!!!

now a serious question, how well would a 400 ducati restrict?

It's hardly surprising it's a lower premium. It's got half the power and lower top speed, plus lower capacity. The insurance companies thought is probably "Hmmmmm 21 yr old Ducati? It will be in a garage with a spanner attached more than it will be on a road"

I can't see it being an issue restricting it though.

I wouldn't think they'd they would even question a restriction on an old 400. They didn't ask for any cert's/proof when I had my cb.

Stick it on a dyno and it may well come out at 33hp anyway considering the age and the nature of the engine. It won't be far off if it is making closer to the claimed fresh 42hp.
Certainly won't be any power to weight - as it's a 900cc bike 'restricted' to 400cc basically already (though with not as good spec components in some case.)

As above - no surprise it's cheaper to insure; a bike that will leave rice puddings everywhere feeling safe.
