Been looking at a Yamaha XJ600 diversion and a Kawasaki ER650A6S
Anyone got any advice on these two bikes?

I could possibly go a bit dearer if i wait till my hubby comes in on a Friday night full of drink....Ask him for anything and he just says 'OK'
Only joking....
Do you think i should maybe look for a cheaper bike with it being my first 'big bike' |

I've yet to buy a bike that I couldn't afford to leave in a burning heap while whistling a happy tune.
But we're not on a rehearsal, get the bike that you want, not the one that other people recommend.
On those bikes, they're much of a muchness. All pretty sensible, built to a budget, with more performance than you can use legally in the UK, but not enough to keep a Power Ranger happy.
Y U NO consider CBF600, Fazer, Hornet, Street Triple, Monster?
Really, pick the one (or two, or three) that you like best, give it or them a try. Buy the one that fits, there's no clear one-bike-pwns-all winner, and they all have happy owners who bought the right bike for them. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

4k is an awful lot of cash to splash out on any bike, let alone 1st bike.
As many will say - you will drop it, be it knocked over on your drive when stationery or God forbid have a smidsy of some description.
It is your money & are free to spend as you wish, but I would have though half of that budget for 1st bike combined with winter onset conditions to contend with would be a safer approach, but that's just MHO.
Whatever you decide, enjoy & be safe ____________________ I might not be a gynecologist, but I know a cunt when I see one |

I had an XJ6 - nice and smooth and typical Yamaha quality. However the torque of a twin is usually more exciting IMO. particularly pulling away in low gears. The ER6 is a great bike and for those who are not vertically challenged, the Versys which has the same engine, but more agressive styling. I would avoid paying too much unless you are very confident or rich! I agree with the comment above - you will drop it (just parking on a slight incline its all it takes!) A sporty option is the SV650 - great fun and very light. Bandits are too heavy IMO (I've had 2) Avoid fairings - a slight spill can do £1000 damage easily. Oh and fit crash bungs - worth the cost. Whatever you choose - have fun and start every ride! ____________________ Swansea area
