I've got a battery similar to this one below not the same make. It's a pain to charge the battery with bullets as I'm using a screwdriver at the moment to wedge into the plastic part.

https://i.ebayimg.com/t/Honda-CG-125-K-Brazil-1989-CB2-5L-C-Motobatt-Motorcycle-Battery-Upgrade-/00/s/MTAwMFg5NjQ=/$(KGrHqZ,!hIE8jp(LCbyBPM+qTUPh!~~60_35.JPG

Want to convert it into the ring connector as so what would be the best method, also I've been told by a local bike garage not to touch motobatt which I thought was a good make because they are chinese and not worth it (decided keep the CG for a bit as its cheap to run) Question

Motobatt get really good reviews, loads on here use and rate them.

I'd hazard that the bike shop isn't being entirely unbiased Wink .

Why not just wire in a 'charging' connector?

Much more elegant, similar cost and less hassle generally.

Or should we differentiate between "Chinese made" and "Made in China"?

So these are made in China to the specification of an American company.

As opposed to a battery that has been made in China by the Chinese.

Regarding the ring terminals. I don't understand. What are you proposing to attach them to?

Why do you have to keep charging your battery?

Inconveninent connectors.... is a little bit of skew logic there my-lad.... the 'problem' is not that the connectors are inconvenient to connect to the battery, but the fact that you are charging it from a mains supply charger, not as is really intended, from the bikes engine generator......

Personally, I'd chop the wires off your battery-charger about 1/2 way down, and solder on an AMP connector, between the cut, so I could swap between the crocadile clips and something else.

Then I'd get half an AMP connector.... preferably the one that mates to what ever you pout on charger side of the splice in the charger leads..... couple of feet of 8A + wire and a pair of Jap standard bullets to connect to the battery terminals.

Getting super-clever, I might EVEN put male/female ends on the charger connector, so that it could be connected in with the battery on the bike, still connected to the bike, and the lead with the AMP connector, run behind side panel or some-where, it could be tucked out of the way and left on the bike. Park-up - Plug-In.

Actually done that for Snowie's bike and planning on doing like-wise for the Dawg, for removal-less charging / conditioning. But that's because of constant drain from alarms, and e-start needing decent battery charge to avoid laboured starting.

You have a CG with a Kick-Start......

Indulge me a second Smiler...... BUT I have to ask?

is your bike a 12v or 6v?

Does it have the right battery? Ie 6v for 6v genny, 12v for 12v genny? You aren't trying to charge a 12v battery off a 6v engine are you? Or worse, trying to charge 6v battery from 12v car battery charger?

Add on ED: Oh, and answer to OP - you need 3.9mm 'Japanese Standard' bullet connectors, (See VWP - https://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/terminalsnonins/noninsbullets.php) Not 4.7mm buillets like wot you get at Halfords & the like for cars.

The battery has to be charged because basically gone at the moment getting a new one next week anyway. This was why I was asking about the motobatt as well. This is the exact one I will be purchasing Battery HERE .

But this question was resolving around converting from bullet to ring anyway. Which will be sorted now thank you to this thread.

The bike is 12V, It is a UK Model and they were converted over in 1985 from 6v to 12V.

Does it have the right battery? Ie 6v for 6v genny, 12v for 12v genny? You aren't trying to charge a 12v battery off a 6v engine are you? Or worse, trying to charge 6v battery from 12v car battery charger?[/quote]

The battery is 12V and the charger is 12V don't worry I'm not that stupid.

Care to exzajeraite a bit on that one?

Maybe a lot of stuff we buy is made in China. Smile

There are still a few countries making stuff.

As far as Made in China goes. We use quite a bit of Chinese oil field equipment. It is basic 'age of steam' but with modern Cyber coming into it more and more. The iron is still made of melted down bikes and wheel barrows though which is what really makes it shite. And tech books are a laff until you need to consult them for help at 02:30 in the mornin when something expensive and unique shits it's sel'.

But.... If there is Western supervision and tech help in a Chinese factory the stuff is much better.
They can make very decent stuff but to other country standards. Chinese standards are like Chinese food. Alright for a tightener but you'll be hungry half an hour later.
