Brake system woes...

Hi guys, got a bandit 600 with a rear brake that is next to useless, It's been modified, but when bought it wasn't working anyway.

Basically, standard brake, but with a gn250 longer brake line, and the master cylinder is laying sideways. I've bled the system through multiple times and it refused to work at all,

So today, I ripped apart the brake caliper, removed pistons, then cleaned all the seals etc, fitted and I have a brake, but it's super weak. No matter what I do it doesn't improve. On standstill it works, but if you really try and move the bike it slips.

Any idea what I'd need to change? From what I can tell the cylinder is pushing enough fluid out? Then the line, seems okay? What about the brake? Worth getting a brembo?

The brakes aren't great on the Bandit anyway but I would just put the proper MC and brake line on (changing the line to a ss will help a bit) maybe some decent brake pads aswel.

the cylinder is standard, the only thing thats different is its sideways, and the line has been changed with a gn250 one because it's longer.

It's baffling why it's not gripping the disc enough.

Have you got a full pedal ? is the pipe ok ? it's not slighlty blocked or something ?

its not blocked because when bleeding it pumps nicely from the cylinder. Not kinked, and no bulges from what i can tell. And the pedal setup is good. Works okay.

I'd be inclined to try, the already mentioned, braided hose route. Just because you can't see a bulge in a hose doesn't mean that it isn't. If you've increased length it may just be too much for that hose in conjunction with different master.

Yes it's on a project bike. I think the master cylinder must be weak then. Not sure what else to upgrade to. It runs a 10mm banjo I believe.

The orientation of that cylinder will make no difference as the reservoir still has a good head. It does look a bit manky on the forward end though.

EDIT: The quality of the steel used in those stainless footplates sucks
