pinlock, open visor slightly or those bottled solutions you can buy Razz

On my shark vision-r it has a nifty little thing that i push which opens the visor just enough to let air flow over the inside of the visor and clear it but not enough that i get cold air blowing into my eyes Laughing

I have found pinlock inserts to be the most effective method to elimate visor fogging. With my pinlock I very rarely get any misting, the few occasions it does is when it is very cold and I have been stationary for a while.

My helmet also has a small lever which locks the visor in place but when pushed up allows a tiny amount of airflow inside from a small gap that it creates. I have read before that people have used a cable-tie wrapped around the lower part of the helmet to create a similar small opening by not allowing the visor to close fully. This may be an option if your helmet doesn't have one of these levers.

On my old helmet I frequently used the washing up method and it helped me through last winter. It works but is not ideal as you have to reapply quite frequently. It is best to remove your visor first, apply a small blob of washing up liquid to the inside half and then rub vigorously side to side ensuring you have covered the surface and the liquid is no longer visible.
Also breathing through the nose seems to help, not quite sure why though.
Hope this helps.

Top tip: get a bit of fairy washing up liquid on some paper towels preferably cotton cloth and rub into the visor, won't mist up for around a month so long as not rain gets on the inside Smile

Bought myself a foogy mask a couple of weeks ago.

I have to say it is fantastic. Get it fitting well, and you can breath normally without any misting.

Also bought a "vee wipe". Absolute lifesaver in the fog and rain. Stick it over your index finger on your left hand, a quick wipe, and perfectly clear visor again Thumbs Up

I wish I had looked into this before. The last couple of winters have been shite! Pissing around with washing up liquid every day used to boil my piss Evil or Very Mad

I always just wore a scarf round the lower half of my face.... done a grand job of keeping my neck warm at the same time too.

I have a wiper fitted to the thumb of my glove.... and what the wax didn't remove (or the air blade on the diversion... if that's what it was) the wiper worked wonders

Tried: Neoprene mask; washing up liquid; Cat Craptm; Fog City sticky insert; off brand sticky insert.

Winner: Pinlock. Waste your time and money on something else if you want to. Wink

Pinlock here too, but FogTech wipes also work very well on my specs, one wipe and they will not fog for 4/5 days even with the usual gentle cleaning Thumbs Up

Re seal the pouch and each wipe can last over a month*

For the outside of the visor a bit of furniture polish makes any water bead and blow off even at low-ish speeds.

I leave my helmet open a tiny crack, lets in enough to clear the visor but not so much that your eyes water. Unless you're on the motorway where it's not nice.

I've never used a pinlock so I can't comment on that.

I've currently got pinlock, but I'm going back to fog city; every time I open the visor, it bends the pinlock and has ended up distorting it so it no longer seals along the bottom of the visor. It still reduces fogging to an extent, but if the weather is generally foggy etc, then fog patches do occur on the visor.
And the way the pinlock is on the visor, you have to push just a little bit harder to get the visor up.

Fog city, you just stick it on and thats it.

I have also worn a neck scarf on the way to work once and had it covering the lower half of my face and this caused the visor to mist up because the scarf was blocking outside airflow to the bottom of the helmet, so my breath was trapped inside with no where to go. Sick

I've also got one of those vee wipe things, or I had one because it might have fallen off my finger whilst riding! Laughing
Wasn't that effective tbh.
I find the palm of your gloves to be a better solution or when I put my head down, there is a point of the flyscreen where the air flow is just hitting the visor and it pushes the rain off. Thumbs Up

I use an anti fog spray on my glasses as well as the inside of my visor. tried a breath deflector but is just fogged my glasses up even more. my helmet (HJC FC15) has a rubber insert that helps deflect my breath down and away from my visor, but as soon as I can afford it i'm buying the pinlock insert. the visor is pre-drilled for it.

Can recommend the fairy liquid however be careful on how much you use and don't use it on the outside, made that mistake yesterday was fun though being covered in suds Mr. Green

You only need a drop of fairy liquid polished across the inside of the visor - you can apply it to the outside if you want but it'll need reapplying on virtually every journey. It does make the rain fly off in the airstream though. Smile
