I'm looking for a new commuter bike after Christmas, bit pointless taking my big bike for my 10 mile commute. I think the YBR and the CBF are a bit overpriced for something I want to abuse and not care about to much but I do fancy something new and reliable for work. I considered a Honda Wave 110i at £1800, but do fancy something a bit more conservative looking (shame they no longer sell the C90 as the Wave looks a bit feminine). I found this!

Not too conservative, but looks like a cub engine and easy to maintain Smile

Plenty of excellent C90s around s/h. Sure to out live a new sub £2k bike.

I do like the idea of 'normal' bikes using the cub style engine - it offers a nice flexibility to have anything from a basic 50cc to a tuned to the nuts 160cc with manual gearbox with little effort.

This one isn't too silly a price. But then maybe less so if you view it as a big pit bike rather than a small cg125.
But in depreciation won't be very cheap to run as you mention 'overpriced'.
Also, I'd expect will be pretty slow.

What is your current 'big' bike? I chose a 2006 GSXR1000 for my through-town 6.2 mile commute after commuting on a wide range of bikes.

[edit]https://www.kymco.co.uk/k-pipe
103 kg isn't bad for something made out of old baths. Though, again, heavy for a bigger pit bike maybe?
I believe the power figure should read 6.0, which would give us about 8hp (the 50 is listed as 2.4, so that'd make sense when it says the power is 2.46.0 - copy-paste fail). So underpowered by cg standards, never mind a modern 125.

Warranty means nothing if they can't actually get the parts. Buying a new model of anything carries a risk, and "sole UK distributor" is a big warning sign.

£1700 (plus whatever they slap on it to get it on the road) ain't that cheap either, especially when you factor in depreciation.

Check that you can get insurance on it.

I hope some of the Chinese places copy this - definitely fancy something like this as a base to build on - but also really want to pay £300, not 6x that.
Make a nice little commuter/field bike/ped racer etc.

But then I do have an MT50 chassis sitting here already, which would be just as good a base probably.

I like it, apart from the daft name. 20bhp in that would be good fun.

Perhaps you should consider the Sym range.

They make a Cub copy:
https://www.symuk.co.uk/symba_100cc.php
...and I assume the Lion king pun was intended.

Or this is quite quirky:

Sym seems to be better regarded tha Kymco. I did hear that they have been used to make Hondas under licence as well. There seems to be a bit of a dealer network.
