I've got a Viper RS-V131 helmet and looking for a pinlock visor for it.
Apparently there is no such thing. Only thing I can find is a pinlock fitting kit, which entails drilling through the existing visor to fit the thing.
I'm used to drilling through brick walls etc, but not through flimsy plastics... does this actually work? Or will I have a good chance of ruining my existing visor in the process?

Also, I'm not too sure about the build quality of this helmet... Sure they are all compliant to the British Standard such-and-such. But the Viper feels very light, and the outer plastic is very thin and bendy (it almost feels like I can deform the helmet if I give it a bit of force), comparing to my older cheapo Nitro lid which is rock solid.

I used a DIY pinlock kit on my old box lid, its fine. Very easy to do.

Regarding build quality - a helmet is supposed to absorb the impact of the hit, and also minimise the movement of your brain within the skull. Thats what causes brain damage.

No. They don't make them.

Man up and drill your visor! Its piss easy. And how are you supposed to learn if you never try anything?

Visors are like £15 on eBay. Not too bad... although... half the price of the helmet Laughing

Further Hi-Jack! Very Happy

How the heck do you get the visor out? Bought mine 3 weeks ago, first day was wet and couldn't see a thing unless I had visor wide open.

Haven't used it since, looking into getting a pre-made pinlock visor (if such thing exists), or drilling.

Shark Openline was the first helmet I bought and has been awesome through all weather, even better when a shop fitted my pinlock correctly, I did think it odd that it fell out. It was on the wrong notch.

I googled and tried to find info and couldn't find anything.

It does feel a bit flimsy doesn't it? Although on I found it rather comfortable, also easier to wear with my glasses.

No worries mate lol. Do some googling before you do it, there is a very handy guide out there somewhere with lots of good pics.

All you need to do is this;

Take off visor.
Use provided measure sheet to mark where the holes need to be.
Make the mark.
Put a little bit of masking tape over the marks (this makes the drill bit grip, so you don't spin off and scratch the visor Wink)
Drill using provided drill bit.
Insert provided pins.
Attached pinlock to front of visor.
Re-attach to helmet.

Its literally a 10 minute job.

I recommend purchasing a few extra pins, because you might measure wrong and end up needing to drill a 3rd hole. If this happens, fill the wrong hole with a spare pin.

Et voila.
