Helicoil is your best bet.

Are you sure you have replaced the copper washer before replacing the oil bung?

I buggered one of these once because I didnt fit the copper washer and was stuck fast, spinning with no thread left. I also sealed it with some epoxy sealer. I ended up drilling a small hole next to it and then fitting an appropriate self tapping screw and a spring washer. I was 17 and the bike was a wreck although got another year out of it, but not the best answer I'm afraid.
A Helicoil is the correct reapir but getting the plug out is your biggest hurdle. Could be easier (depending on where it is) to buy a new engine panel / sump pan. Surely something must be available on ebay?

As above, either get it helicoiled or look for a replacement sump pan (if the bike has one).

Is there enough material to cut a new thread the next size up and fit a larger plug?

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 11 years, 350 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
