The problem as I see it, is that the 'common' people are so furious about another 'old boys' coverup, the media think they can get away with saying what they want and accusing people on the flimsiest evidence.

It puts people like Cameron in a bad position cause if he lambasts the paper/journalist/tv for doing it and it is later proved the bloke accused did fiddle, it's going to be screamed from the roof tops that the PM covered up for one of his cronies.

I don't normally give a toss about the media fucking up politicians but in this case they are sailing very close to the wind.

I think its possible a mistake has been made, but considering the victim apology now, when he'd been threatened with death before, means the truth will remain unproven and elusive.

Has he caved in, excepted cash, and lots of it.

Why does the original post make it sound as though it is wrong to accuse a 70 year old man? Age does not lessen the severity of the deed.

BUT ... I agree with Keggers. Whilst people are flapping over this, what is being kept hidden/moved forward/what laws are they slipping in under cover of such "dramas"? Smoke and mirrors, sleight of hand.

Naming people before even being charged is not on imo, no matter the amount of evidence.

Although reporting of masses of evidence and questioning why no charges is a OK with me, and what forms part of our so called freedom under democracy.

This is where naming a person for a crime they may or may not have commited falls down, but on the other hand if they had done the deed it may have given other victims courage to come forward.

Well hang on. There was more than one name on that list. To me, it has the smell of an establishment coverup along the lines of Hillsborough and Bloody Sunday.

How is it that guilt can take months to establish, but innocence takes 24 hours? Surely due process goes both ways?
