Having spent the morning wandering aimlessly round Paignton Green at the annual BMAD bash I've had a sudden urge to sort out the old girl.
Some twerp streetfightered her - although in my book it takes more than throwing a bike down the tarmac, throwing away the broken bits and calling it a streetfighter!!https://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r601/mentalboy1/P5050401.jpg~original
So here goes. I'm in serious need of a good talking to/advice. In order to sort out the old girl I'll need quite a bit of moral support. Funds are just about non existent, so my local breaker will be seeing a lot more of me and I can't put anything too swanky on her.
I believe that because this is my first post I can't get any pics up, so they'll come later, assuming the mods (that meant something else in my heyday!) don't take umbrage!
So what have we got?
1 slightly polished engine (in great running order, which is always a bonus!)
1 polished straight frame
A good set of Michelin wellies and a decent chainset
A set of wide bars and pretty much standard periphals.

She was in one piece but thanks to my mates RRX dropping a shell bearing we ran his bike with my lump all last year, so I've now got the lump languishing on the bench.
Initial thoughts are to chop off the pillion, thus reducing the chances of throwing unsuspecting members of the fairer sex down the road and attending to the rather shabby headlight arrangement and finding some half decent chrome clocks for her.
I'm hoping to sweet talk my good friends at VonSeti into producing something stylish on which to perch and show my tailfeathers.
She'll get a nice new metallic black/silver coat and then I'll start thinking about shock, swingarm and headset arrangements once she looks like a bike again.
Whilst I'm waffling away I've got a quick question to finish with. Take one RRX engine with duff shells/crank, mix with one RRW engine with damaged camshaft, give it a good shake etc nothing too fancy and result was 176mph and still rising. I know that clocks can sometimes be a tad over-enthusiastic and this beast has no limiter on her but has anyone played this game with a GPS on board and logged just how much out Honda's clocks tend to be ?

Can't say I'm familiar with Teflon's 200, but if I find it he's more than welcome to keep it - assuming I don't run over him. 40miles each way, 25 minutes on a good day

Looks good. What I would do for your selection of bikes and proper workshop Crying or Very sad

So you're going to keep it as a naked bike?

Oh the joys of a meltdown - 2 years ago this was my workshop for my work as a shipwright. Last year I bought 15 bikes in a rash fit with the intention of making a living out of bikes so what you can see is all that is left.
Lurking in the back of the workshop is a rather interesting GSXR400and an Africa Twin. The pretty little 'Thumper' is on Ebay at the moment.
If anyone out there would like to contribute indirectly to the 'Blade restoration fund they're more than welcome to bid on her Wink

As for the 'Blade yes she's staying naked, I like a machine that you can tell apart from the crowd ( as you can probably tell from the unusual assortment)

Fair enough. I would do a similar thing, but I have no illusions about my mechanical skill level (of lack thereof).

I am probably going to 'streetfighter' my zzr soon. I've been running it with just the top fairing for a few weeks and the handling at low-medium speed is much improved, with no discernible difference to wind protection. Just have to build a headlight mount really... All the buzzy plastic drives me nuts.

I know what you mean about buzzing plastic parts - not helped on mine since riding off a pavement Embarassed and crunching the belly pan, blasted thing has so far resisted all attempts at running repairs. I'll have to glass it up properly soon!

Good news - sold the XT500.
Bad news - slung the Zed down the road yesterday, so I'll be giving her a respray before looking at the 'Blade Crying or Very sad

Oh the joys of a messed up brain!
Having procured paint and wellies for the Zed I've let her alone and cracked on with the 'Blade.
Pics to follow thanks to a camera absence.
She's now strewn across the workshop just starting to polish frame, attacked grids over headlamps, sought seat advice from VonZeti and have gotten paint and cones for the carbs. Drooled over some new clocks which I'll probably get later.
Once frame is polished and reassembled I'll give the lump some attention and pop it back.

Forgot camera again - doh. Pics in a few days.
Swing arm back on and engine in. Everything's just about to get primer coat, including the rear shock.
Interesting time getting that apart! Used a bench mounted woodwork vice and a pair of Record sash cramps with a coach screw through shock eye - I'll definitely post pics for you lot to laugh at when I put it back!!!
