Hey,
I'm currently having a problem keeping my cg125 running.

About a month ago i turned the fuel tap to off and ran it out of fuel so that the carb would be empty ready for winter storage. Really i should have drained the bowl via the drain but i was been lazy.

Sip forward a month i thought i'd skip the winter storage and get the bike on the road again. The bike started first kick ran for about 30 seconds and then died. Que me trying to get the bike started for 2 hours!!

When it eventually did run again it would only run with handfuls of throttle but would die fairly quickly.

Its got a good spark and fuel is flowing into the carb. The airbox has only recently been cleaned out and the filter element cleaned and oiled.

I've got the carb off for cleaning but as yet can see no real problems. Anything i should be looking out for?

Cheers,
Shaun R.

Hey,
Tried 3 different plugs and still had the same problem Sad

I'm hoping its some muck stuck somewhere it shouldn't be.

Cheers,
Shaun R.

Running on handfuls of throttle suggest main jet is ok but slow-running system has a problem.

Most likely a blocked pilot jet or pathway. Remove pilot jet and you should be able to see clearly through it when held up to the light. Minor obstructions can usually be blown out by mouth. If it's really stuck, you may need an airline. If you get really, really stuck, an acupuncture needle can be used if you're careful.

Invest in some proper carb cleaning spray and soak all the insides of the carb and jets to clear any gumming/deposits. Doesn't hurt to soak jets etc overnight in it. Then blow through to remove the carb cleaner.

While you're at it, worth checking the air filter element isn't over-oiled, and also check carb float isn't punctured (try shaking it - if you can hear petrol sloshing in it, it's knackered/punctured - very rare, but can happen).

Hey,
Thanks for all the info Thumbs Up

Removed the pilot jet and it was blocked with muck so hopefully found the problem.

Carb cleaner will be bought shortly along with a bottle of compressed air Thumbs Up

Cheers,
Shaun R.

Technically it is possible to do this without removing the carb, but taking it off makes it a hell of a lot easier.

Hey,
Takes literally minutes to remove the carb Thumbs Up

Boiled the jets in a pan of water as per a suggestion in a classic bike forum and they came up nice and clean Thumbs Up

Just need to put it back together.

Cheers,
Shaun R.
