I read it for ten minutes every night. Once I have finished, I start again.Even the CBT bit.

Drives her nuts, She said one night:

"why do you keep reading something over and over"

"I wouldn't be reading this if I didn't think that I wasn't alone in my views."

Confused - Shut her right up hahaha!

Tis a good book, 10 mins a night is the way to do it. I think (as long as you have at least average ability) a lot of it comes down to luck on the day!

Would just like to say thanks to Clutchy for the advice in the main post. I picked up a copy of the book, read it several times and I've just passed both modules first time with no training schools used.

Top man! Thumbs Up

With the advent of the DVSA changes that took effect in January 2014 it is no longer possible to do mod 1 on a 125cc bike for those over 24 years old so one will have to end up paying DAS training fees.

A learner can't insure or ride a 'big bike' without an instructor.

Are you sure? I can't see any mention of this on the DSA website, it still says that you can take the A1 test from 17 years and over.

https://www.gov.uk/motorcycle-practical-test/rules-for-mopeds-and-motorcycles-used-in-the-practical-riding-test

EDIT: I think what you meant was you can't take the test on a 125cc and upgrade to a bigger bike after two years anymore. Right?

Those changes were in 2013, not this year.

What I meant was that anyone over 24 years who wants to do DAS has to use a big bike (600 cc 45mkw minimum) to do both mod 1 and mod 2. As a learner cannot insure or legally ride a bike over 125cc then there is no way around paying for DAS training with a riding school.

Or is there another way?

Y U bump this?

Bikesure will cover you on your provisional entitlement, conditional on you getting licensed up within (IIRC) 3 months or so.

Or an examiner.

Now, I'm not saying that it's either free or easy to do it strictly legally, but you can still buy your own 'A' test bike, practice on it on private land, get it to the test centre legally (van, trailer, licensed and insured chum rides it in) and pass the tests yourself without involving a training school.

It's 595cc+ and 40kW+, by the way.

But really: Y U bump this?

When did I make this thread?

Either way, a lot of what I wrote in this thread is still useful and relevant since the actual test hasn't changed...
