New to biking so don't laugh, but I bought the Shark S600 helmet. Afterwards I heard about pinlock and how it stops the steaming up issues. So I bought an insert from here: https://www.pinlockshop.co.uk/category-pl/shark-helmet-pinlock-inserts

I've noticed that there aren't any pinlock holes on the visor even though the website I bought it from says pinlock ready (website below): https://www.getgeared.co.uk/shark-helmets-s600-prime-white

Does "pinlock ready" actually mean that the visor doesn't have pinlock holes but you can buy a new visor, here for eg --> https://www.pinlockshop.co.uk/category-pl/pinlock-visors (and pinlock insert) for it? If so it means I've ended up spending an extra £60 just for the pinlock ability. Live and learn eh!

Pinlock ready means there should be holes in the visor fitted with a couple of gromitts (for want of a better word).

It seems a common thing to be wrongly advertised. I got stung with my first lid also.

As you say. Live and learn.

Definitely doesn't have the holes already. Would I have any rights to complain to the shop because when I ordered it online it said pinlock ready? I've been wearing the thing for a couple of weeks and I bought it several months ago. Can't see it, perhaps if I hadn't used it.....

I'm not sure if you have rights as such but it's worth complaining.

What's the worst they can do? Say "no".

As its a couple of months old I'd be inclined to think the best offer would be some sort of discount on your next purchase, possibly haggle for a pinlock ready visor. You can only try.

I also have the S600 (purchased in august 2012) and mine has the pin lock studs, ready to accept the insert!

Sorry for that useless reply, here's a photo of a penis drawn on my finger, the tip of the cock resting against where the pinlock stud is, just to clarify things.

This sounds like a stupid question and I don't mean to sound patronising... you know the pinlock insert just flexes inwards and sits on the inside of the visor not on the outside?

No such "bit" on my visor. Attached pic. I understand how the pinlock fits.

I'm not sure how much you paid, but this may help https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-SHARK-S600-S650-CLEAR-PINLOCK-VISOR-OFFICIAL-SHARK-DEALER-/300830026540?pt=UK_Helmets_Headwear_Visors&hash=item460addeb2c I'm sure there are cheaper etc. but just an example.

I've got an Shark openline and wouldn't be without the pinlock on mine.

Hope this helps

EDIT: Just seen the note in the ad about not fitting an Older style S600 RSV helmet, best check yours. Is it old stock? Perhaps that is why it didn't have pinlock.

Hey Coot.

I have a Shark S600 in some weird custom/limited edition design I forget the name of right now I think.

However, I don't use the pinlock system at all, never liked it. I have anti-fog wax that I put on once a week or so and it stops the entire visor fogging at all with no need for pins/extra inserts or anything like that. I prefer it very much.

However, I am posting because I believe I may have a clear visor to fit the Shark S600 which has the pinlock pins, if I can find it I am more than happy to send it to you as I never use it. Of course this is if I still have it, I may have thrown it away.

Personally I'd recommend ignoring the pinlock stuff and just getting anti-fog wax, IMO it works better and it just requires popping the visor off (takes ~10 seconds with a Shark S600) and putting the wax on like polish once a week when using it. I just don't like the look of the visor being two different colours. Laughing !

Hope that helps Coot.

Thanks mate, that would be appreciated but don't worry if you can't find it.

Good news! I wrote to Get Geared to complain and they have said that they have spoken to the manufacturer who will be sending me a pinlock ready visor.

Thanks for your help all!
