Got the bike out for work on monday and the chain was really stiff, so much so that it was pretty hard to push the bike, I gave it a good clean with wurth degreaser and re lubed it with wurth wax lube but some of the links appear to have seized altogether.

It has been stood since just before Christmas but the chain gets cleaned and lubed quite regularly (obviously not enough) but it was a bit grubby with thick black crap, the old lube was muc off ptfe stuff.

Is the chain now knackered ????

I will post a pic if I can work out how to lol.

Work the links free using pliers and some form of easing oil. Once they are free, clean the chain and relube it with proper chain lube and I'm sure it will be fine.

Make sure there is plenty of slack, then go mad with WD40 for a few days, clean, re-adjust and lube.

WD40 will dry the chain out and I'd imagine will just exacerbate the problem.

so no to wd-40, what is the best thing? something like 3in1 or just a good soak with oil?

Take the chain off and soak it in engine oil for a few days... Wipe clean before putting back on.

If it's got O or X rings in it then you should be using a chain lubricant or gear oil that is compatible with them.
I use old engine oil Thumbs Up

Don't ride it with stiff links.
