Hi all. I have a 99 Honda deauville i use for my 90 mile daily commute.

I was coming back from work the other day, and the bike gave the symptoms of running out of fuel. I put it on the reserve tank and it gave me about another 5 miles before sputtering and dying. I just thought id ran out of fuel as the mileage I had done meant I would have been close to empty. So I filled it up and off I went, bike ran fine.

Then yesterday the same thing happened, but it happened when I still had half a tank. So clearly hadnt run out of fuel. Bike died, I pulled up, opened the tank cap as you do, closed it up, the bike fired up and let me go another half mile before it happened again. Luckily I had a half full gas can on me from the week before, so I filled it up and off I went no issues.

My current thinking is blocked breather hose, or a blockage in a fuel line somewhere? Any ideas? Help appreciated as always.

Most likely it's the fuel pump. You'll either need to (a) replace the points, available on ebay, (b) replace with a new Chinese fuel pump, ebay again, or better, (c) fit a new Facet fuel pump. See link for a very good guide

Oh, and if you decide to replace the points and do the (recommended) diode mod, I have a bag-full of them if you need a couple Very Happy
