 |
|
Now on my 125, in the twisties, I don't have the acceleration to overtake the traffic moving at 55-/+5mph on the short straights, so I often slow to 40 on the straights, so I have a clear road ahead for the next set of corners to take at a nice speed and then be back behind the cars again on the next straight while they get up to 60+/-5mph.
Because in my experience the cars take these twisties anywhere from 35-45, I tend to be more 45-55 so if I ease off on the straights I can get a nice smooth fast run on the corners, anyone else do this? I get some funny looks from some people when they see me slowing on the straights, but it is one of the few things that makes the trip to work fun, so yeah, am I alone in doing this? ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>

I used to do that on my 125 at a couple of favourite twisty bits.. slow down to give myself space ____________________ "The problem with the French is they have no word for 'entrepreneur' " George W Bush

i dont actually do it, but ive been tempted to.
alot of bikers when in heavy traffic drop back a bit to give themselves a run at overtaking them or to give themselves a clear run at a twisty section.
My bike doesnt really do corners so i normally take them at car speeds, thats probably why i dont do it |

In corners I tend to drop back to the outside of the corner to give myself enough viewing room. When on straights however, I accelerate slowly until I am just behind the vehicle ahead, I make sure it's clear, drop down a gear or two, and redline my way past . ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/nsrandy/96rs250/ My Bike!

Yes but you ride a 2 stroke 125....?
I don't have that power at my hands, so rather than risk a slow overtake, I will hold back, and just enjoy the corners, I'm in no rush, just enjoying the ride :> ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>

To get a decent run at darley moor i was going really slow so that there was a good quarter of a lap between me and the bike infront. The R1 was slowing me down |

Already happening, I am going out riding with my Dad on sunday, and he is letting me try his 500 out, and soon I will do my 33bhp test and get myself a nice big(ish) bike
And yeah, going fast is good, but nothing beats a nice smooth ride as opposed to adjusting to the slow cornering/odd behaviour of cars. ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>

I go pretty quick round the twistys and along strights, just overtake 1-2 cars just before the corner or something, just overtake whenever no cars are the other way. Just remember theres only 2 speeds speed limit or just keep the trottle pined . Oh i have an RS125.
