.
The Chinese bikes that is.?
I see and hear a lot about Chinese bikes but I seldom see one.! - Really I don't. Since I started riding a bike I always nosey at what another bike is be it parked, overtaken or going the other way. (speed permitting ID)
But in the last 12 months I have only seen about 6 of the infamous rascals.
It cannot be geographical and there is a dealer for them in Warrington where I live. I just very seldom see one.
This is meant as a serious question and not a 'lets bash the Chink bikes that have the metallurgy of a road kill hedgehog.'
Is this just me that fails to see them.? Does anyone know the numbers of them sold in the UK in the last few years.?
Regards, Curious from Warrington.

The previous owner of my Lifan had debadged it and very neatly applied "YAMAHA" decals.
It is a nut-and-bolt copy of the Virago, you really wouldn't know.
I mean, except for the exhaust blowing through after two UK winters.
I've seen a few HNs and Jinluns tooling around, but you'd really want to look where poor people cluster together, like community colleges and chavvy retail parks. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

considering how much my Sukida looks like a Suzuki GN125, even down to identical piping on the tank and side panels, you probably see a fair few and don't notice.
...and for the record, mine is 6 years old and has superficial rust on a couple of bolt heads, it's called taking care of things. ____________________ it is impossible to lick your own elbow...

I see a couple of HN's on a regular basis.
To be honest though, its taken about 2 years to actually see a CBF-125 too.
Occasionally see my old 1997 CG-125 (front drum).
Must admit, I fell for the sales garbage on my bike.
"I sell loads of these mate, supply the local training school"
This did fit in with another training school that was selling a couple.
In reality, I haven't seen another in 18mths. Until October 2012. My license plate is AB11 123. I was in my dads car in Farnborough and we are behind a another AJS JS125. Licence plate AB11 124.
I tried to get a photo, but he sped off and out-ran us
This site gives some interesting stats on numbers of bikes.
https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/
Looks like AJS are selling roughly 90/month in the whole of UK. Not exactly flooding our roads with them. And kind of begs the question of my dealer, how many does he consider to be "loads". By these figures, about 2. Shame he didn't charge me "loads" on that basis... |
