Hi all
im really stuck now on what to do! i have looked all over the internet and just cannot find the solution.
The problem is: i have a chinese, tiawanese crapese 125, its a cg replica that i have ratted.
the bike is fine apart from the electrics, i cannot for the life of me get the headlight working! i have tried all the fault finding i can like bulbs battery etc and nothing. i bought a new loom and nothing.
the back light and brake lights all work fine apart form the headlight?
the headlight used to work perfect with both engine running and without.
Please help! ____________________ When all else fails, take a hammer, lift it high and whack yourself. |

You will need two basic settings on your multimeter.
For DC voltage, you will generally put the black lead on the negative terminal of the battery.
Put the red lead on where you expect there to be power.
If it says 12.8v or something around that, it's good. If it doesn't, it's not.
For continuity (checking that there is a link between two points), either use the resistance settings (1 means there is no link, something between 0 and .999 means there is something) or there may be a specific diode/resistance setting - sometimes this has a buzzer so you don't even have to look at it (again, 1 usually means nothing and 0 good.)
You just need one prove at each end, doesn't matter the colour.
So, take the bulb out and for the earth contact for the bulb, check that has continuity to the negative of the battery.
Then if that's ok, check for voltage at the positive on the bulb.
Presuming that doesn't have it, go back a step - maybe to a relay, maybe to the switch on the handlebars, maybe somewhere else depending on the wiring diagram. Keep going back until you get to the point there is voltage - and your problem is after this.
You can also check for continuity between the positive and the positive on the battery. |
