I have a '94 CG125. I recently took the flywheel off because of problems and created more problems. Rolling Eyes
Once I had changed the points I refitted the flywheel and kicked the engine over.
No spark!?
I took the flywheel back off and found that I hadn't tucked the wires up and one has been torn out!

Can anyone tell me where the black/white wire from the terminal on the points should go? One goes back to the loom but I have no idea of the second?!

I have checked the Haynes and looked at more images on Google that anyone can imagine!!!

It eventually finds its way to the ignition coil Thumbs Up

Will explain why you've got no spark Shocked

It's only about 3 inch long and then soldered into a very fine copper wire!?
Could this be from the stator coil, if so where!?
Is it a replace the stator job?

Bloody thing is starting to bake my noodle!?

Yeah there are two screwed on to the points, one loops around the hole in the centre and attached to the top coil with a fine copper wire whereas the other goes under the points themselves and joins the loom.

Where has it been torn from? If is from the clip on the points it should be a simple soldering jobbie. But if the wire has been cut at the join to the coil then it could be a bigger job and could very well mean a replacement stator.

If you can get the points off and fit a soldering iron in there you should be able to solder it back on, that assuming there is a length of wire protruding from the coil to solder on to. If your next option is to get a new plate than there is no harm in trying to repair what you have.

Stators should be easy to obtain. I had to buy a new one just before Christmas as mine burnt out and wouldn't power the lights any more. I got mine from a chap on Gumtree who was breaking a CG125 engine and had the stator available. I would assume that you'd have luck with checking regularly for bikes that are being broken for spares.

At the moment though there is only one stator on eBay, and that is at £55. I paid £35 for mine though so that should give you an idea of how much they sell for.

Other than that you can always get the stator rewound by a specialist but I have no idea of what they charge so you'd have to ask them.

I believe that one is incompatible with the OP's bike. The one you've linked to is for the 6v, pre-1985 models and the OP has a Brazil 12v model. I don't think they ever made a pattern BR stator unfortunately Sad

Thanks guys. You've been a great help, i may even get a little sleep tonight?!
Will be cruising for a new stator me thinks....
Though £55 on the bay seems a little steep, maybe, maybe not!?
Will have to see what comes up!

This has been bugging the sh*t out me since my bike died 2 weeks ago! I don't even know if this is the initial cause of the bike dying in the first place! But I guess I need to get this rectified before I can continue on further....

Thumbs Up Thanks again Thumbs Up

Probably the best solution here is to remove the stator. You'll need a special tool to remove the rotor (they're usually left-hand-threaded - you should be able to pick one up fairly cheap, if you get stuck, PM me).

Once rotor is off, remove screws holding stator and then remove. If it were my bike, I'd either have a go at re-soldering myself if enough room/wire available, or, take it to someone like an auto-electrician. Chances are they'll be able to do it, and you then haven't spent fifty-odd quid on a 2nd-hand part with no guarantee.

Okay here's an update:

PLAN A

I had another look at the Stator plate, the wire must have broken from the centre of the coil as I couldn't see a broken strand protruding...
I removed the plate and found it has a crack through it! (Probably from being levered against to remove the flywheel)
I then removed the coil and examined... It looks sealed in that sh*tty resin! I then removed the second coil, dropped it, snapped a second wire and lost my rag with it!!! Evil or Very Mad

PLAN B

I phoned every breaker on the first two pages of Google and every reaction was the same...

Me: "Hi, I'm looking for a stator plate for a Honda CG125!?"

Breaker: "Sure, what year is the bike?"

Me: "It's a '94 Brazil model"

Breaker: "With points.... Then no! Good luck with that!"

Me: "FICK!"

So I bit the bullet and bought the expensive one from the Bay! Sick Let's hope I don't regret it! Neutral

How are you getting on?

BTW don't lever against the stator to get the flywheel off. Use a proper puller that thread into the flywheel itself and has a threaded rod to push against the shaft to pull the rotor off cleanly Thumbs Up

Update...
Put the stater plate on, replaced the flywheel, set the points gap and...

BINGO! We're back in business!

Celebrated by buying a new chain & sprockets! Very Happy
