CBR600F (1999) Stutters in 1st, engine cut out, wont start

Hi - hoping someone can tell me what might be wrong with my 99 cbr 600f - the symptoms are quite specific...

1st noticed it was stuttering in 1st gear when pulling away. Got it home when it promptly cut out and then wouldnt start again. It'd turn over once then nothing.

Pushed it to the garage, where they fitted a new, charged battery. Ran like a dream that day. Then the next day, exactly the same symptoms, t cutting out while moving in 1st. When trying to start it again, turned over once then gave up. Left it an hour and it starts up 1st time, but still sluggish in 1st.

Any ideas? much appreciated

I don't know if it matches the symptoms but they are known to have problems with the rectifier? Does the headlight brightness change when you rev it?

Yep, headlight grows brighter when revs are increased from idle - this is as should be, no?

I didn't know rectifier's were a known problems with these models, but will investigate, thanks. All i had heard was cam chain tensioner often needs replacing

Thought i'd post an update, as always useful for anyone else searching with a similar problem

Fitted the R/R off ebay (very easy even for me on cbr 600f). Bought an optimate and recharged the battery. Have been commuting for 2 days and bike is running smoothly. So the culprit does seem to have been th Regulator rectifier, which appears to be a common issue on cbr's my age.
