Does anyone have any history of using zen cart?

I've installed the cart onto a site and the store front is showing but the admin login page doesn't show. I think it might be something to do with the ssl certs which I do have installed but not sure about changes in the config php files.

Anyone know what they are doing with this?

Nooooooooo idea whatsoever.
I am a total noob.

Yesterday I got something that looked like
https://www.bikechatforums.com/download.php?id=87773

... and I still have NO idea what it means/what to do.

But in the meantime the girl whose website it was gave me some other instructions which meant I got into the back end without all that kerfuffle, I'm worrying that I will come across this again and still have no idea what to do about it.

(at which point I shall prolly pester you guys again... Laughing )

If it was an invalid SSL certificate it would just throw an SSL error and then load the page using the normal http protocol.

Without getting into the server it would be almost impossible to debug.

You need to edit your admin url in the config to reflect the SSL address.

i.e. https://www.yoursite.co.uk/admin

Also, did you set forced SSL in the admin area before you installed the certificates?

not used zen
but normally you can log in using FTP and edit the config.ini file(s) to set up your SSL
it will look something like this

define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'false');
define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.yoursite.com');

you may need to define your path to Admin as well in the Config

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/data/web/yoursite.com/www/catalog/admin/');
define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/catalog/admin/');

HK you say you got into the back end so it must be installed
its saying you have some issues with paths to info it needs
same as above you may need to edit some config files via FTP to get it to work correctly
and give it the info it needs

The problem turned out to be file permissions. Marmalade's web host does not allow group write/edit permissions, to which they throw a 500 error!

I did ask a couple of members that had replied, seemed like they knew what they were on about and had a good history.

The site was terrible so there would have been no tears if it had all gone tits.

Turns out Dale did know his way around and sorted it swiftly and didn't demand money with menaces although i did donate a few beer tokens for relieving me of getting thoroughly confused by it all.

Thank you all that offered advice Thumbs Up
