Plenty of bikers hitting the deck! Guessing there must have been oil or something on that patch?

But mad how target fixation does that.. looks like it could be the cause of quite a few of them!

Thumbs Up

Yeah, I wonder if the surface at that corner was slippery. Nasty corner though, double apex, catching loads of people out!

Makes you wonder if someone had put something down on the surface or it's just fuel/oil from another vehicle as that's a hell of a lot of crashes in one day on the same corner.

I think it's more likely ambition outweighing talent, what happened to the bike at 2.15? looks like a proper spastic panic crash.

And 3.30 what a pair of uselss cunts. Laughing

edit ok I take the 3:30 thing back it looks like oil Laughing

^^^ Very Happy

What idiot designed a race track with a bend in it?? Rolling Eyes

I agree on 'oil' being a factor in at least one incident but that wasn't even crash related.

They make a big deal of billing you by the hour if they have to close and clean up the track after you bin it.

Presumably that cuts both ways if they fail to clean it up before you bin it? Thinking

Thats what slowed me down when i went on there....."dont bin it, dont bin it"...

You do get a lot more people speeding up at the spectator points though.

Watch at 3.19, that Porsche spews oil all over the track. You can see the line behind it after it passes through.

Old cars where shit Laughing I'm glad suspension design and car safety has improved.

Major difference I can see between the old and the new, the old cars generally seemed to roll. Is this because new cars have anti roll bars to help keep them level when cornering?

Also 70's cars were made of cheese! lol

the biker at 2:05 came off further up the track,

did the camera operator suspect he'd crash and follow him and zoom in on him?

i think 3:39 is interesting, I first thought it was just ineptitude, but did that first chap see something he didn't like about the track and deliberately run off?

edit: just noticed the comment about the porsche spewing oil, I thought the smoke was heavy braking Embarassed

I thought roll bars were just 'extra' chassis to protect from crush damage when it rolls? Honestly I don't really know though.

I'd say the main problem in the old cars is that they weren't quite so designed for that kind of thing, so the centre of gravity was probably higher, wheel base not as wide, and also you can see in the video that the suspension is poorly damped in almost all of them, which seemed to be the trigger for most of the flips.

Well how does a bar arrangement prevent a car from rolling? Only thing it could do is change the mass and the centre of gravity, unless you rig a mechanical counterweight system to it.

Thinking

AFAIK anti roll bars are part of the suspension and stop the car rolling outwards when cornering, what I'm asking is, is it this which has made such a difference to the cars likelihood to roll, or is it something else?

Some of those car drivers would have been OK if they'd spent their last remaining moments on the tarmac steering, instead of panic flooring the brake.

1:38 wtf? car doesn't crash, driver falls out.

but at 2:28 we get an open top beetle, no seat belts and no crash helmets, and 4 occupants. In your face health and safety Middle Finger

edit: the old school clip, sans seat belts I mean.

anti-roll bars explained. So yeah, they do help with roll prevention Laughing

Basically they connect the suspension between the left and right wheels, so if one wheel goes up, so does the other, which causes the car to stay much flatter.

They are essentially a brace that twists in response to suspension travel that stops body roll, not roll over rolls Thumbs Up
